Do you want to live your life as who you truly are rather than who you think you ‘should’ be? Overcome the thoughts that tell you you're not enough, aren’t deserving or that there’s something wrong with you. Release old patterns that take you to the same places, relationships and feelings over and over again. Heal your past, relieve anxiety and fear and feel happier, more peaceful and powerful, more confident and inspired. Feel more deeply connected, - body, mind and spirit. Fulfill your passions, your divine purpose and live the life you are truly meant to live. The power to bring these changes into your life is within you

As a therapist, I believe first and foremost in the healing and growth that can happen in relationship. My therapeutic approach is about meeting people where they are, and engaging each individual in a healing dialogue that is appropriate and specific to his or her life. I am a process oriented therapist. This means that I am primarily interested in understanding the process through which my clients respond to the world and how they make meaning out of their experiences. My goal is to facilitate increased awareness in my clients and improve agency, choice, and connection in their lives.

I am a clinical psychologist who provides individual, couples, and family therapy services for adolescents and adults. My approach is based on a cognitive-behavioral perspective, but I draw upon other approaches to collaboratively address the issues that concern clients. I tend to incorporate elements of Zen, dialectical-behavioral therapy (DBT), and person-centered traditions to my work.

Accepting TWO new couples counseling clients / Individual client caseload is full. You and your partner are regularly exhausted by eachothers emotions. You feel as though you have no space in your life. You are so hesitant of "going there" because you're afraid you'll get swallowed up in the process. You are drained from carrying so much for so long. You’re not even quite sure who you are and you don’t know where to start. Despite all of this there is a faint voice inside you that hopes for something more - from yourself and from your relationship.

Currently Accepting New Clients. What does it feel like to be heard, seen, and understood? To get to say out loud the things you've struggled with inside, and not feel alone? Perhaps there's a part of you that you're wondering about, or you've noticed patterns in your life that aren't serving you anymore. Maybe you are seeking a more joyful, fulfilling and authentic way of living, and are curious about what is left to be discovered of who you are and the life you want for yourself. My therapy practice is a space that is affirming of who you are, what you’ve experienced, the systems that impact you, and your feelings about it all.

Your story is important and unique to you. What you bring into the counseling session is more than a diagnosis or problems you are struggling with. Reaching out for support today is a significant step in getting to where you want to go - congrats! I am a collaborative therapist who sits with people empathetically and kindly.  I work with clients hearing their story and listening for the sticking points that need attention.  My approach is client-centered that builds a relationship with the client. I draw on the many interventions I am trained in; trauma-informed CBT, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing.

Resilience: “The capacity of a person to maintain their core purpose and integrity in the face of dramatically changed circumstances.” Resilience, at its core, relates to the process of adapting to challenging circumstances. Adaptation does not necessarily mean letting go of past experiences, challenges, or losses, but rather the act of learning to live with pain in a manner that allows you to survive. In seeking support, you are doing just that. Welcome to Resilience Counseling, PLLC.

It takes courage to ask for support. Coming this far is a victory in and of itself. You’re in touch with yourself enough to know that you need something to change, although you may not be certain yet of what that change should look like. Perhaps you need a shift in perspective during a difficult time. Maybe you need to learn to cope with challenging emotions. Perhaps it is your child who needs help and you need help learning how to help them. Whatever your need, you deserve an empathetic and dedicated guide to join you on your journey. You don't have to do this alone. Currently taking clients intermittently.

Many of us drag our pasts along with us like a ball and chain that clanks loudly whenever we move; we are never able to forget those events and traumas because every time we try to change, the loud noise reminds us of all the things that have hurt us. So…what if we really acknowledge the past, and the terrible hurts, and then grasp, viscerally, that there is nothing we can do about what has happened? What if we ask ourselves if we have to continue to be hurt, to replay old issues and be triggered by them, and let them continue to run, and perhaps even ruin, our lives?

Are you having trouble communicating with your partner? Do you struggle expressing your wants and needs with your loved ones? Are you worried that you’ll stay stuck—repeating the same conversation over and over? I understand what you’re going through. Relationships are hard and they stir up our fears and vulnerabilities. But they can also be fulfilling, exciting, and satisfying. I believe life and relationships are a journey full of transitions, twists, and turns. Sometimes these transitions are not what we expect and we’re left feeling anxious, confused, or discouraged. No matter where you find yourself, there is a way forward.

Few things are worse than feeling stuck and struggling when it seems like everyone else has it all figured out. Life is complex and it's often hard to handle the situations we face each day. You have the right to heal and find hope! No matter what the challenges or life transitions you are currently facing, no one should have to go through it alone. I'd like to support you with the care, compassion, and empathy you deserve.

I am accepting new clients. Are you seeking honest and useful feedback? Stuck in thoughts, feelings or behaviors that are causing distress? Are "blind spots" causing conflict, depression or anxiety? My counseling practice is guided by 3 core beliefs: (1) Past or current Emotional stress creates imbalance which affects perception, feelings and behavior. (2) Awareness of the origins of Imbalance and how it manifests in your relationship with yourself and others is necessary for change. (3) Feeling supported, validated and challenged are the ingredients for rebalancing and moving forward with your life.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Bellingham?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
