I know how hard it is to overthink everything. Your panic and anxiety prevent you from living life. Your anxiety is paralyzing. I know your sense of doom, of fear, of uncertainty. The worry seeps into all the parts of your life. Having struggled with anxiety myself, I know how much it can control everything. Even trying to write this profile I am overthinking and overanalyzing. I also understand depression. I know it can be a struggle to even get out of bed. Brushing your teeth feels about as likely as running a marathon.

I have experience helping youth and adults with many different concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, relationships, self-esteem, and adjusting to new life circumstances.
My therapy practice is fueled by my core belief that each of us as human beings have innate worth as well as boundless potential for growth and joy. Sometimes we all experience challenges that make it difficult for us to feel that joy and live our lives the way we want to, and I believe that is where therapy can be helpful. My number one priority as a therapist is to create a space for clients to feel safe and heard while we embark on the journey towards change and healing together. I strive to offer real connection and a listening ear, as well as tools and skills to help clients reach their goals.

I enjoy working with couples and young adults with anxiety, depression, pornography, boundary-setting, and families.
Focusing on helping you feel safe and understood, while also pushing you to view aspects of life in different ways. We firmly believe that the most growth occurs when you step outside of your comfort zones just enough to discover who you truly are. We believe that life is for laughing, and we do not underestimate the power that humor has in the therapy room. Combining empathy with humor is to create a space where you can tap into your own strengths for change.

To laugh, to have fun and not worry what others may think.
You made a mistake this morning. It was small, but you can’t get it out of your head. You keep thinking about it. You feel like your thoughts are a runaway train and you can’t stop them. You try to consider what you could have done differently, and yet it’s in the past. You start to question other choices you’ve made. Are you making the right call? Doubt creeps in. You find it hard to concentrate on your family or partner, your job, or schoolwork. Your mind hurts, your stomach hurts, your body hurts. You feel exhausted; it's only been an hour.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
