I specialize in working with clients experiencing anxiety, relationship issues, and pre/postpartum transitions.
Do you tend to have those sneaky "what if" thoughts showing up in your day? They sprinkle a bit of uncertainty on everything, even the most ordinary moments. Perhaps you find yourself in a constant state of worry when it comes to relationships or life goals. As a driven person, your dream of a purposeful life feels hindered by anxiety. But here's the thing—it doesn't have to be this way. It’s possible to rediscover joy in life's little moments and milestones. I see you, I hear you, and I'm here for you, ready to collaborate and create a future where anxiety doesn't call all the shots.

I provide individual, couples (romantic and professional), and family therapy, and have expertise in working with adolescents and with anxiety/depression disorders.
My role as a therapist is to facilitate growth and change by assisting my clients in realizing and exploring the primary concerns in their lives. My job is to help them get "unstuck," so that they can choose other ways to live. I offer tools that can help them communicate better, establish necessary and healthy boundaries, manage anger and fear healthily, and eliminate self-destructive and self-harming behavior. Most importantly, I offer assistance in improving the self, which can enrich and increase the joy in my client's lives.

In our work, you'll learn to live in the now, find ways to face your struggles and reduce your anxiety by grounding yourself in the things that you have control over today.
Life can throw unexpected curves that seem to come out of nowhere and leave us feeling overwhelmed, and disconnected from ourselves, others, and the world around us. Regardless of where you are in life, my goal is to provide a space where you can feel understood, supported, & empowered. While it may be tempting to delay starting therapy, most people know in their heart that the time is now. The first steps are easier than you realize. I can help you explore difficult emotions, strengthen relationships with yourself and others, and develop healthy communication skills, boundaries, and coping skills.

You can learn to have confidence in yourself, to calm anxiety and worries, to really connect in relationships, and to go after your goals and what you value most in life.
You have worked hard your entire life to do everything right. In a lot of ways, you have succeeded. However, sometimes you can't stand yourself for having "issues." You worry that if others notice, they will see you as weak. So many successful, wonderful people have anxiety, fears, negative thoughts, self-doubt, depression, and feel like they are never enough. I want you to know that you do not have to feel like this forever.

I have extensive experience and training supporting clients through OCD, anxiety, depression, relationships, infertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting.
Hi, I'm Sarah. Maybe you feel stuck right now. Maybe things feel hard and you're just not sure what to do. Maybe you've noticed unresolved feelings, or big feelings, coming back again and again. Maybe you feel stuck in a relationship, a season in your life, or your identity. Maybe it feels like things might always feel this way. Clients that I work with are curious about their experiences. Whether it's noticing past patterns, current feelings, or experimenting with doing something different, the clients that I see often want to understand more about themselves, to show up for themselves in ways they hope to be.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
