Are you suffering from crippling depression or anxiety? Are you going through a major life transition like changing careers, divorce, or other loss? Maybe you're battling habitual patterns that keep getting in your way no matter how many times you've tried to change things on your own. We believe that therapy can provide you with the means to face the hardest of life's challenges. Having a space to be heard and learning to better understand your problems can be the key that helps you to move forward. It provides a new perspective, as well as tools to better manage problems well after therapy is complete.

I use my training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to inform my approach to treatment of mood disorders, anxiety, and difficult behaviors.
Psychotherapy is a collaborative effort, and I encourage my clients to take an active role in making decisions about their treatment. While I make my clients’ goals the focus of their treatment, I also seek to engender in my clients the following abilities: mental flexibility, emotional control, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness, and self-enquiry.

I work with a variety of individuals seeking help with issues including , depression, anxiety alleviation, stregthing self-esteem, assertiveness, creating and maintaining healthy boundaries, social anxiety, relational difficulties, and personal growth.
Lucy in the Peanuts cartoon once said, "to be happy you also have to be sad sometimes; then you're really happy." I agree! Life is about engagement with all of your feelings. How do you relate to your life? Are you finding challenges, aliveness, connection to self and others? Do you have a sense of meaning or is life just something to get through? Are you living or just existing? I strive to assist clients in being closer, more alive, connected, and vibrant, embracing the highs and the lows of life with more balance and acceptance.

I have a passion for helping clients reduce anxiety, stress, confusion, sadness, and pain - so that they can live more fulfilling/happy lives.
Therapy is a safe place to explore challenges in our lives & find strengths that we never knew we had. It has the potential to lift us out of our rut so that we can finally make the changes we've longed for. Whether you are working to decrease your anxiety, unmasking and living authentically, changing careers, exploring your gender or sexual identity, or trying to change your relationships, therapy can be a great place to get a fresh perspective & face these challenges with a champion by your side. My own identity as a multiracial, queer, gender nonconforming therapist enables me to understand clients who feel like outsiders.

My clients are often anxious professionals who care deeply about being the best and in no way a burden to others.
It makes perfect sense that you're exhausted. You spend much of your time thinking about what could go wrong or what others are thinking. You feel energy crashes throughout the day, your mind chatters at night, and your dreams are so vivid that it leaves you restless. It seems as though you and your partner can never see eye-to-eye, and when you're not arguing with them, you're wrestling with issues with your parents. You've spent much of your life taking care of others - walking on eggshells, afraid of judgement, constantly questioning if you're good enough - I know this because I've lived it. Now is the time to take care of YOU.

When I was in high school, I struggled with my sexuality. The struggle lead to maladaptive coping skills, depression and anxiety. I felt so alone, scared, and like no one understood what I was going through! I needed help but I was too afraid to ask for it! One day, a school counselor, who I've never interacted with before, noticed that something was wrong with me and she reached out, gave me a helping hand, and put me into group therapy with other teens like me! I wasn't alone any more, I wasn't the only one questioning my sexuality, there were other kids like me! Getting help was the first step towards acceptance and self-love!

I work with adults individually and in relationships of all types to treat complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, self esteem and relational issues at their roots.
Our emotions, behaviors and relationships can be overwhelming to make sense of. Having the support of an unbiased perspective can help as we grow beyond the things that cause us discomfort. As a systems therapist, I understand the issues brought into the therapy in relation to the school, work, relational, societal and intergenerational systems involved. Yes, that does mean talking about your parents and how the messages you received in your family have shaped you. It also means talking about the ways culture, race, sexuality, work environments and history affect the ways we feel and behave.

I specialize in working with individuals & couples that may have experienced: rupture within their family of origin, obsessive, anxious, & depressive symptoms, and struggles with identity formation.
I hope you take a moment to recognize how much work you’ve done to get to this place. You’ve survived this long, and you should be proud. For most folks, surviving on its own doesn’t cut it anymore. We need to make some adjustments to sustain a more grounded and full life. I want you to experience collaborative healing that is safe, free of judgment, occasionally humorous, and rooted in kindness and gratitude. I currently practice under Therapy Austin and Central Austin Psychotherapy offering in-person and telehealth services.

I help other queer and neurodivergent folx live with anxiety, PTSD, grief, and interpersonal functioning issues. I’m a casual therapist who cusses, listens intently, initiates the hard conversations gently and directly, and offers the education and support you need to navigate and define your experience. A fundamental belief I hold as a therapist is that everyone is capable of change, but sometimes we don’t have the skills or support we need; I provide that support and care, giving you the space and freedom to explore who you are, who you want to be, and what you need to bring those two aspects of yourself into alignment.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
