I am currently accepting new adult and adolescent clients. My clients are typically individuals that have experienced trauma, and are working on integrating and processing those experiences. I also have experience treating individuals managing acute and chronic anxiety and depression. As a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I enjoy working with other Queer individuals--especially young people looking to find comfort and safety in their identity. Additionally, I am a HAES (Health At Every Size) aligned therapist.

Having had meaningful therapy experiences myself, I know what a difference it can make. I work primarily with teens and young adults and find myself connecting strongly to those who are extra hard on themselves. This may include individuals grappling with challenges such as feelings of depression and/or anxiety, tendencies towards people-pleasing and/or perfectionism, and self-critical beliefs. I also work with many client’s who are seeking a better understanding of why they feel the way they do and who are searching for further insight into who they are in this often chaotic world.

I work with individuals that want to feel better but do not seem to know how. Whether it's surges of weekly anxiety, recovering from heart breaking loss, or an inability after achieving all we set out to do to feel good about ourselves, my clients have hit a wall and their coping skills just aren't working anymore. I believe that everyone holds the knowledge they need to heal and move forward inside and that with the help of a guide (therapist) and a few tools (therapeutic methods), they can uncover this knowledge and feel better, each and every day.

ChatGPT I understand that you're struggling with feelings of perfectionism, anxiety, and depression. Perfectionism can be like a relentless taskmaster, always demanding more and never satisfied. It can fuel anxiety, making you feel like you're constantly falling short of impossible standards. This cycle can lead to a sense of inadequacy and sadness, which may manifest as depression. It's important to recognize that these feelings are common, but they don't define you. Together, we can explore strategies to challenge perfectionism, manage anxiety, and alleviate depression, helping you to find more peace and fulfillment in your life.

I specialize in helping people recover from anxiety, depression, complex trauma, and attachment wounds.
Life often presents us with challenges that impact our emotional well-being. Sometimes, these challenges arise from our early experiences, shaping how we interact with ourselves and others. We may have learned to disconnect from our needs, emotions, or even from those around us. While these coping mechanisms may have helped us in the past, they can become limiting patterns that no longer align with our present desires and goals. Through therapy, we have the opportunity to update our inner templates and work through struggles, freeing us up to connect with our lives in the ways we want to.

When we meet, they feel worn down and worried.
I’m going to try to talk to you exactly like I’d talk to my best friend. Look, it can be hard to be a person. And it’s even harder to be a person who knows themselves well and loves that person with compassion, kindness, and understanding. That’s basically what I do. I come alongside the people I work with to help them build a better relationship with themselves. Together, we move away from self-criticism, imposter syndrome, perfectionism, and anxiety and we move toward a balanced, fulfilling, connected life. Is this resonating? You absolutely do not have to be alone with this any more. You are my people and I want to work with you!

I generally see people experiencing anxiety, depression, Trauma/PTSD, family of origin issues, relationship problems, grief, and general "stuckness".
With 15 years of experience, and an eclectic blend of training and knowledge (including EMDR, yoga therapy, mindfulness, IFS, and more), I tailor my sessions to each individual. I feel honored to be witness to the pains, joys, and experiences of others. It's hard to sum up the deep work that my clients and I do, but overall, I like to help people increase self-compassion, gain deeper mind-body awareness, and connect to their own insight and growth. My experience is that this helps them to experience healing from trauma, see themselves with more clarity and acceptance, and feel more in control of and at peace in their lives.

I practice virtual counseling to provide support for people who have anxiety disorders, which includes anxiety about general life stressors, phobias, panic attacks, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
I’m Ariel Cross, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oklahoma. My goal is to help individuals who struggle with OCD, anxiety, and other difficulties so they can live a healthier, happier life. I work well with individuals who are stressed out, burned out, and have been told they’re “Overthinkers.” My approach meshes well with people who identify as highly anxious but have difficulties with managing their symptoms. I work to create a sense of safety and comfort within session. It’s my goal to be as genuine and understanding as possible to create an area where a person feels comfortable talking about difficult problems.

I know the visceral pain of grief and have joined many people in exploring the complex and ever-evolving emotions within it. I often work with people after the death of a loved one, including those who’ve lost someone to suicide, an often uniquely isolating experience. You may be experiencing loss related to a breakup, family disconnection, or change in identity. These bring grief, too. All sorts of life changes can deeply impact us and are worthy of attention. I also work with people seeking support for anxiety and self-criticism. If you’re really hard on yourself and want to cultivate more self-compassion, we may be a good fit.

I believe that self-expression is key for confidence and healthy relationships. I work with people who are feeling overwhelmed and alone to face past hurts, get ahold of big emotions, and face insecurities head-on, so they can better understand themselves and express themselves in connection with others. Together we explore pain points and self-talk that can lead to messy relationships, anxiety, sadness, shame, self-doubt, and burn-out. I work well with individuals who want to connect with their own power, to take responsibility for their part in relationships, & to express both their strength and softness with ease.

I have a passion for helping clients reduce anxiety, stress, confusion, sadness, and pain - so that they can live more fulfilling/happy lives.
Therapy is a safe place to explore challenges in our lives & find strengths that we never knew we had. It has the potential to lift us out of our rut so that we can finally make the changes we've longed for. Whether you are working to decrease your anxiety, unmasking and living authentically, changing careers, exploring your gender or sexual identity, or trying to change your relationships, therapy can be a great place to get a fresh perspective & face these challenges with a champion by your side. My own identity as a multiracial, queer, gender nonconforming therapist enables me to understand clients who feel like outsiders.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
