Working with depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders or just regular daily stressors can seem overwhelming, good news you don’t have to experience it alone.
Struggling to survive and other days thriving without effort? Struggling to get through the week, day or even hour? You are not alone, and you shouldn’t feel ashamed. We all need some guidance and direction at times. Not because we are weak but because sometimes, we get tired of being strong, and guess what? That is perfectly okay. Let’s just sit and talk. No pressure, no expectation, no right or wrong way. Just talk. Breathe and release. Sometimes we find it difficult to express ourselves because we can’t find the words. No need to find anything just release what you have inside.

Looking for a therapist takes a lot of courage. Whatever it is that has motivated you to take this step, I'm glad you are here. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in anxiety, relationships and trauma. As a therapist I aim to create a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore areas of pain and move towards integrative healing. With clients I spend time unpacking things like anger, shame, people-pleasing and perfectionism, processing how early childhood experiences and family dynamics impact current relationships, and exploring how to safely connect with, care for and communicate emotions.

I have worked with clients across the life-span with a broad of concerns including anxiety, depression, attention difficulties, low self-confidence, identity development, relational difficulties, parenting concerns, and developmental transitions.
Clients often seek therapy when they or their children are experiencing distress and/or want to better understand themselves and their relationships with others and their environment. I view each client as unique and seek to gain an in-depth understanding of their life and experiences and how they impact current difficulties. Using an integrated approach to therapy and intervention, I believe in the role of a strong therapeutic relationship, working collaboratively to understand concerns, identify goals, and develop skills and knowledge leading to more adaptive functioning and improved quality of life.

I work with people who suffer with depression, anxiety, life transition issues, want help in their marital or couples relationship, some sexual issues and other areas of needed support.
The goal of Psychotherapy is to feel and function better in the world. That's what I help my clients do. I have been in practice for 40+ years, and have trained broadly and deeply in experiential, interpersonal and couples therapy. Before I was a psychologist, I was a nurse, and offer that background in helping as well. I bring the wisdom and insight of years of practice and life experience.

I know that you are sad and anxious.
I work with adults of all ages who find themselves overwhelmed by situations in their lives. The issues might involve end of relationships, serious health conditions, conflict in relationships, and grief. Adults have multiple responsibilities that include earning a living, meeting financial expenses, caring for children and older family members. It is natural that we forget to think about ourselves. We may become irritable, sad, resentful, and tired all the time. We want someone who can listen without judging. We want a therapist who "gets us", who understands our pain, and wants to help us move forward.

Not Accepting New Clients. Why cancer now? Hearing the diagnosis of cancer can be overwhelmingly devastating, emotionally and physically. Treatment and tests can trigger anxiety, depression, existential crisis, or the exacerbation of traumas and conflicts. It feels like your life has an expiration date and with each ache, sleeplessness, fear, and sadness they become a reminder of that “c” word taking control of your life as well as your loved ones. Are you struggling to find some sense of it all? Are you on a quest for some semblance of normalcy? Are you questioning how can you continue to create the life you want to live?

Issues I offer help for include depression, anxiety, stress, and life transitions.
I approach therapy as a collaborative partnership. My style is authentic, nonjudgmental, and compassionate. I think therapy should not be some mysterious process so I provide feedback and tools to help you make changes. Together we identify patterns in your life that are no longer working for you and find new ways of living that give you more of what you want. In my practice I offer individual psychotherapy to adults in person and via tele therapy.

I offer individual therapy to address anxiety, depression, insomnia, racial trauma, identity development, and other internalizing and externalizing behaviors.
Everyone could use a little more grace. Sometimes that grace requires seeking professional guidance and support. My approach is to meet a person at their level of comfort with therapy and collaborate with them to reach their goals.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
