I help people who have anxiety, overwhelm or stressful relationships find clarity and serenity. In 2014, after years of talk therapy and recovery work, I became frustrated by the lack of progress in a few key areas. I decided to go deeper and I combined "parts work" with a mediation facilitation process. The healing I experienced was astounding. I researched other practitioners who were working at these deep levels, began studying evidence based techniques with Sarah Peyton, and I implemented these life changing models into my work. A past client posted: "Sara’s way of providing help creates peace in the battle zone of my brain."

So much of the stress we feel in life can come from relationships and situations that do not make sense to us. Perhaps you have a sense that “something is just not right” in those dynamics, but you cannot figure out what it is. You may notice that you are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, distracted and depressed, and you feel at a loss for how to change that. My passion is working with folks who are wanting to shift those confusing dynamics and heal from the negative impact of them.

I invite those who want to process and heal from trauma, learn to manage life stressors, or manage anxiety and depression symptoms to reach out and schedule a free phone consultation to see if I'm the right therapist for you and your needs.
I believe in the power of the human spirit to overcome adversity and survive trauma. I also believe in the importance of the therapist client relationship in the therapy process. I use a strengths-based approach that helps clients identify and utilize their own strengths to resolve whatever issues their struggling with. Combining client strengths with evidence-based therapy gives clients the tools they need to overcome their challenges.

Specializing in PTSD/Anxiety/Depression, I work to facilitate your body's innate healing response through possible EMDR, CBT & Eclectic applications.
Welcome! In this very moment you're choosing to be on your journey. My therapeutic philosophy is to facilitate and support your body's innate healing response through the applications of EMDR, (EMDRIA.ORG) and heart-centered therapies. EMDR in particular works to liberate clients from past trauma memories whether that be small "t" trauma or big 'T" trauma and to transform a person's subconscious beliefs thus "turning down the volume" on negative memories/negative beliefs and transforming those subconscious beliefs back into positive core beliefs so that you may become your highest aspect of yourself.

My practice is heart-centered, and based on empowerment and choice. I believe we all have the ability and the right to live in deep and meaningful connection with ourselves and others. We often hold core-beliefs that get in our way: I am not enough, I am not lovable, etc. These core beliefs frequently show up as emotional patterns of depression, anxiety, relationship issues, or other life stressors. In therapy, we begin by understanding these core misconceptions, and learning skills to slow down the busy mind enough to notice them in the moment.

Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma or other challenges in your life, it is possible to work through it with someone who can offer skillful support and guidance. The goal that people say they most want; is to feel better, or that they want things to be different. It is possible for healing to occur and to work on issues that are hard to deal with in the right space. Change is possible and attainable.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
