I have experience working with anxiety, depression, addiction, high conflict relationships, divorce related issues, trauma, marital difficulties, adolescents struggling with peer relationships, behavioral issues, and other areas of concern.
**Please note: I am Telehealth ONLY.** Starting this journey of self exploration can be both exciting and scary. I want to be the one to help you become comfortable with the idea of changing your life. There are a few crucial pieces that help make therapy effective: client-therapist relationship, increasing self-awareness both in mind and body, and finding coping skills that work specifically for each person. I treat each and every client uniquely, as every person has a story that needs to be told and held sacredly. If you are looking to explore your inner self and wanting more peace in your life, I'm here to help!

I work effectively with clients struggling with issues ranging from depression and anxiety to addiction and relationship problems.
People often describe me as down to earth and easy to talk to which helps clients open up and work through issues more deeply. Using evidence-based approaches, I draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), mindfulness and humanistic psychology to help clients move forward in meaningful ways. From my experience, I've realized that people can get stuck in negative patterns due to childhood experiences and mindset. In a holistic way, I tailor therapy for the inner work needed to shift beliefs and mindset to become in alignment with your goals while considering various facets that contribute.

It takes a lot of courage to be open to your fears/vulnerabilities along with accompanying feelings of depression and anxiety.
My best wishes to you for a Happy and Healthy New Year 2024. My practice is currently online only and currently accepting new patients. Please call or text me at 207-409-3459 if you would like to have an opportunity to discuss your interest in pursuing individual or couples counseling. In my work with others I have found many struggle with aligning their life values and goals with living a meaningful and purposeful life in areas of relationship to self and others. Being able to patiently listen to your self as well as sharing your "voice" in relationship with others is so important to this life journey. You may be stuck, not broken!

I specialize in working with individuals who are struggling with anxiety and depression, and those who have been affected by trauma.
It is natural to seek support when we feel overwhelmed, confused, fearful or depressed. The therapeutic process offers us the opportunity to build on skills that we already have in order to find relief, hope and healing. My work combines practices of narrative therapy (examining the beliefs we have about ourselves), cognitive behavioral work (paying attention to our thoughts), expressive therapy (healing through art and writing) and mindfulness exercises.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
