As a cognitive-behavioral psychologist, I help clients understand how thoughts directly impact feelings and behaviors. Clients and I will work together to identify the automatic thoughts that accompany feelings such as anxiety, sadness, frustration, and anger. When we're anxious or upset our thoughts are often inaccurate and overly negative. When we start listening to these thoughts we can learn to replace them with more accurate and constructive ones, ultimately resulting in more positive feelings and behaviors.
Through our work together, clients can gain control over difficult emotions and greatly improve overall happiness and life satisfaction. Those with phobias can conquer their fears in the safety of my office and those with OCD can significantly reduce symptoms with the gold-standard treatment, Exposure and Response Prevention.
I help clients problem solve in the here and now. We can lead happier lives when we learn to identify our thoughts and feelings and consider them objectively. We are then able to act in thoughtful, healthy ways, rather than in reactive ways which result in further unhappiness.
