Life is so much harder than it used to be. We are constantly being challenged and it is often hard to determine what the best next option would be for you. Often times it is difficult to find the best way to manage daily challenges and understand how to meet expectations set by others as well as ourselves. It can be hard to manage stress, worry, sadness, past trauma, and relationships. It is important to remember that you are not alone and there is room for things to get better. The focus is to identify the best way to manage each situation, it is a struggle to know where to start.

I work with individuals on issues pertaining to anxiety, depression, relationships, addiction and self-actualization.
So many things can pull us away from feeling fully alive and from having meaningful relationships, to ourselves and to others. I enjoy helping people strengthen their belief in themselves and become less alienated. Therapy with me is about bringing awareness to behavior and thought patterns that no longer serve you. Without recognition of these patterns it is impossible to make a conscious decision to be/do something new. You never know what's possible when you bring energy and imagination to the parts of your self that need attention.

Reaching out for help can be hard. Many times we take two steps forward and fall back because it is familiar, comfortable, or maybe we don’t know what step to take next. Therapy can be used to explore options and scenarios, mull over decisions, or navigate and process conflicting feelings while being in a judgment-free environment. If you are struggling with family and/or peer relationships, life transitions, stress, depression, anxiety, or grief, we can work together to reach your desired lifestyle. I also have extensive experience with those who have loved ones struggle with substance use and mental health issues.

I will also work with clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, or grief.
Most people who contact me for therapy are serious about getting the help they need. They want a therapist they can trust. As a clinical social worker I work with my clients to help them identify their goals and challenges. Like most therapists I offer a safe environment, acceptance, and concern. I may also offer feedback and make suggestions but I believe that it is the client's responsibility to decide how they want to resolve their specific issues.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 14 years of experience, my practice is centered on helping my clients find balance and deepen their ability to access true wellbeing. My work, both inpatient and outpatient, has ranged from helping adolescents bolster self esteem and coping skills on one end to helping adults who have suffered from mood and personality disorders on the other. Peace of mind. It's something we all yearn for, yet life's challenges can make it feel so elusive. Issues like substance use, anxiety, and depression often stand in the way. But that's where therapy comes in. It takes courage to seek help when you need it most. Amidst the struggles, it's difficult to pause and appreciate the small moments when the weight of larger issues looms overhead. Life is full of hurdles and uncertainties, but wherever you are in your journey of healing, I'll be there to walk alongside you. Because even when hope feels distant, it's always within reach.

Dr. Klenck holds specialized training in evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, exposure therapy, and mindfulness-based practices for the treatment of anxiety, depression, bipolar and related disorders and a wide range of other difficulties. Dr. Klenck focuses on evidence-based treatment and evidence-based assessment practices, but finds the most important factor in therapy is the therapeutic relationship. Without a strong alliance with the client, she finds a therapist is limited in their ability to help the individual effect change.

I work with a variety of adult clients, both individually and in couples counseling. Many of my clients are dealing with varying levels of anxiety, depression and/or relationship struggles. Often clients have struggled with these concerns for a long time but resisted admitting that anything was wrong or seeking help.

Change can be scary. Ironically, in order to enact change we actually need to start with self-acceptance. A deep sense of I-am-OK-ness provides the empowerment necessary to embark on change. This is where a solid therapeutic relationship can be profoundly supportive. It can provide a space of strength, safety and compassion - where the fears and obstacles can be unpacked and where you can discover and trust your innate abilities and strengths. Areas of expertise: Eating Disorders, Body Image and Body Dysmorphia, Women's Issues, Social Anxiety, Anxiety, Depression, Relationship Concerns and Life Transitions.

My main areas of focus are depression & anxiety, disaster mental health, death dying & grieving, and trauma.
To paraphrase artist and author Tori Press- I’m here to help hold your balloon until you feel ready to hold it again yourself. No one should have to navigate life's challenges alone (even superheroes have sidekicks). My approach to therapy is solution-focused, person-centered, and holistic. While evidence-based practices and theories have their merit, ultimately you are the expert on your own life. I aim to create a supportive and non-judgmental place where we can discuss your challenges, talk through the hard questions, and work collaboratively to find solutions.

I have 10 years of experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, and substance use.
Have you been in therapy for years and still find yourself at the same spot? Are you feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and frustrated with daily chaos? Is it getting difficult to keep up with daily routines? As a trauma therapist, I help individuals find the calm and confidence they need to connect with themselves, even in the chaos of everyday life. I understand it is not easy to talk about your past. I can help you accept all parts of you that are carrying the burden from past traumatic experiences and help you build a strong relationship with yourself.

Change takes effort. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help you make that change. CBT is like finding a map to a more ideal life and learning that life is much closer than you had thought. This form of therapy teaches you how to change your thinking, with an initial focus on improving the here-and-now with smaller focus on the past. Practice is essential and CBT involves work, but that work often yields results. CBT can help improve mood, reduce anxiety and fears, change unhelpful behaviors, make relationships better, and lead to a richer, more satisfying life.

In my work with clients struggling with anxiety, depression and other life challenges, I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness Based Techniques to help gain coping skills, self awareness and an overall healthier life experience.
I believe counseling is a holistic, healing and empowering process. There are many times throughout our lives when we get stuck in transitions, feelings, or in our own mind. Counseling helps us get comfortable within ourselves. It creates self-awareness, self-acceptance and self-compassion which in turn changes our perspective as we walk through our daily life.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
