Has anxiety become a barrier for personal or professional growth? You’re not alone. I create customized treatments depending on your needs. I strive to provide a safe and accepting space for my clients to feel heard, supported, encouraged, and challenged. When facing difficult times, our initial reaction may be “tough it out”. Instead, we have the opportunity to reach out for support and use the difficult time to learn about ourselves, start to heal from our past, and address our current concerns.

I specialize in psychodynamic, insight driven treatment for emotional difficulties or dissatisfaction in life, including depression, anxiety, repeated relationship difficulty, job burnout, trauma, grief, NPD, OCD, aging, emotional difficulty experienced by children of immigrants.
At some point in our lives we all experience the full force of life’s challenges. Sometimes the distress, pain, alienation or isolation is too intense for us to traverse life’s path alone. Yet, for many of us, asking for help or inviting others into our private world is equally difficult. I hope to convince you that therapy can help us understand conflicts underlying these challenges. Through insight, self-empowerment and enhanced emotional regulation, we can become more adaptive and begin to heal and grow in the face of challenges or transitions. Therapy can also help to cultivate a greater sense of meaning and purpose in our live.

Choosing to begin therapy shows incredible inner strength. Difficult situations can be managed with the strength of the individual along with the help of an external support system. My goal is to be a part of that support network and to cultivate a safe and supportive environment where we can identify, explore, and work through challenging issues. I work with clients towards change in areas including depression, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, self - esteem, trauma, and life transitions.

My areas of specialization include body image/eating issues, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and women's health issues, such as sexual victimization, recovery from breast cancer, and assertiveness.
Compassion. Insight. Empowerment. I'm committed to blending clinical expertise with warmth and respect for each client's wisdom, to create a healing, growthful partnership. A hallmark of my approach is cultivating mindfulness: nonjudgmental, moment by moment awareness that promotes living more fully, less reactively, and making better use of one's resources. Whether addressing depression, anxiety, stress, past trauma or current relationships, I begin by creating a space of acceptance. Here, we cultivate insight: the ability to observe accurately, think clearly, and choose wisely. Together, we explore options, drawn from clinical scholarship, collective wisdom, and clients' evolving self-awareness.

Through this experience, I was able to find my passion in working with children, adolescents, POC, and LGBTQIA+ individuals struggling with identity issues, anxiety and mood disorders, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and trauma.
Life is tough, in therapy we learn to deal with painful thoughts and feelings so we can enjoy the meaning and beauty in life. As a biracial therapist with a mixed cultural heritage, I aim to create a safe environment needed for change for people of all backgrounds and experiences. It takes a lot of courage to take that first step towards change, so I intend to acknowledge your vulnerability by meeting you where you are. I have extensive knowledge working with people of diverse ages, backgrounds, and presenting needs due to my experience working in community mental health.

Welcome! I’m so glad you have found your way here. Often we get swept up in the competing demands around us and forgo what we need. We can lose ourselves without even realizing it or maybe we never even had the chance in the first place. Before we know it, we are stuck thinking, "Why can’t I seem to do what’s most important to me? What is most important to me anyway?" My hope is that together we can find the way through to heal and create a life you want to live. I think of my role as a guide offering a new perspective. A light in the dark. I specialize in working with individuals experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, and grief.

I have experience working with adults of all ages experiencing life transitions, anxiety, depression, family conflict, abuse or neglect, grief, and loss. I specialize in working with older adults and their families who might be experiencing caregiver stress and burnout, hoarding issues, challenges related to dementia or other chronic illness, and end-of-life planning. Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
