I am a licensed mental health counselor with over 30 years of experience. My passion in counseling is helping individuals reconnect with their authentic selves and with others. While I have specific skills, knowledge and training, my clients are the "experts" of their own lives. In counseling we work together to help the person find his/her own answers. I believe each of us has our own inner wisdom and my role as a psychotherapist is to help the client access that wisdom.
Many things in life today can pull us away from the self...depression, anxiety, disordered eating, constant busyness, feelings of not being enough. Therapy is a time to stop and just be present, to take the time to slow down and be present to your own experience. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment for self exploration.
My style of therapy is eclectic. I use psychodrama, an action alternative to traditional talk therapy. I am a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and have extensive experience working with eating disorders. I am also trained in EMDR, which is helpful in working through issues related to traumatic events.
