Anxiety, depression, self esteem concerns, relationship issues, and stress management are my areas of interest.
*Accepting new in person and/or telehealth (virtual) referrals * People choose therapy for various reasons but the goal remains the same: wanting to heal, feel better, and learn how to be mentally healthy long term. For over 10 years I have helped teens and adults achieve those results through education, mindfulness, authentic and culturally responsive communication, and various evidence based practices. Identifying mental health concerns and understanding how they impact you is not always an easy task. Having the right person to support and guide is an essential piece to your healing and growth.

Waitlist for new clients
Current Waitlist. Looking for and reaching out to a therapist for support takes a lot courage and can be time sensitive. For older teens and adults I enjoy using a relational approach in order to maximize the therapeutic relationship as this is the anchor for treatment. I enjoy the transition from high school through college and beyond as you navigate so many transitions and issues that can arise such as anxiety, eating issues, relationship challenges, mood changes, and large approaching life decisions. I also enjoy working with healthcare providers as burnout rates soar.

Other areas of clinical interest include working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, obsessional thinking, compulsive and repetitive behaviors, disordered eating patterns, low self-esteem, body image and intimacy.
As a strengths-based, compassion-focused, person-centered therapist, I see each client as an individual rather than a diagnosis, and strive to support them holistically using a wellness model of therapy. The beauty in therapy is that there is not a “one size fits all” approach, and as such, I utilize a variety of evidence-based practices in order to fit the unique needs of each client and the dynamics within the therapeutic relationship. I am committed to providing Health at Every Size (HAES), LGBTQ+ affirming, sex-positive, culturally-sensitive, trauma-informed care.

I specialize in treating adolescents and adults who experience difficulties related to anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and life transitions, and I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing in my work with clients.
Overwhelming emotions and troublesome thoughts - whether they're related to current stressors or past experiences - can be burdensome and impact the extent to which we feel fulfilled in our lives. Whether such concerns tend to come and go rather quickly or linger for longer periods of time, therapy can be a safe space to better understand them and develop healthier ways of managing them. I strive to provide such a space for my clients, and my goal is to do so with compassion and skillful treatment.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
