And the anxiety that may be present in reaching out.
Hi, I’m Deb. I work with you to understand the "whys” behind your feelings. I’m good at helping you figure out effective responses to dealing with the people and problems in your life. We work together to understand what’s making you unhappy. And more important, we spend time uncovering what makes you happy. We’ll create goals to get you where you want to be and develop strategies to manage the bumps along the way. And through it all, I provide support and accountability. Please contact me to see if you think we will work well together.

Having experienced the complexities of anxiety and relationship issues firsthand, I deeply relate to the challenges you face.
Couples: Are you feeling stuck in cycles of arguing or mistrust, longing for understanding and connection? You want to transform conflict into collaboration with mutual respect and deep emotional intimacy. Anxiety: Your life is a daily challenge overshadowed by fear. You desire to understand its roots and interrupt the pattern to experience lasting calm. In both cases, you seek more than temporary fixes; you’re looking for transformative changes that create ownership and empowerment. I can guide you in harmonizing these aspects of your life, offering solutions that cater to both profound relationship growth and personal peace.

If you are someone that has anxiety, struggles with transitions, are a part of the queer community, or are neurodiverse, I would love to connect with you.
“I cannot focus and my thoughts are racing 24/7” “I feel so alone and lost” “I want to grow up to be the person that I want to be, but don’t know how” If these are things that have crossed your mind. We might be a great fit. I want to be here for you. I work with children, teens, and adults. I have worked with children and adults with autism, queer youth and adults, and in any of my work, I bring in elements and connectiveness of the natural world.

I specialize in Depression, anxiety, disordered eating, and stress management.
Stop beating yourself up! We all engage in some unhealthy behaviors at times and we don't need to feel ashamed of these struggles. Maybe we cope with stress by having an unhealthy relationship with food (binging, purging, restricting) or by engaging in self-destructive patterns in an attempt to deal with our extreme feelings. I can help you process your past traumas and allow you to create a new path for yourself based on self-compassion. The world doesn't have to be a scary, lonely place.

We humans are blessed with big brains, but overthinking causes suffering. It is natural to be anxious or worried at times. Past experiences can overwhelm our system and drag us down. The unknowable future can be frightening too. Life may become very uncomfortable! Without effective coping skills, we risk developing self-sabotaging habits that address our discomfort only in the short term. Habits like avoiding situations, abusing drugs/alcohol/gaming/food/relationships prolong our discomfort! All ages struggle with discomfort and seek relief. You could spend a lifetime yearning for ease while change is within reach.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
