I specialize in working with teens, young adults, and adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, relationship distress, difficult transition, school/work issues, low self-esteem, and addiction. Although I approach therapy from a strengths-based perspective, I incorporate techniques from several different theories depending on the clients’ personality and circumstances. I work with clients to hear their concerns without judgment and to explore ways to achieve emotional growth, develop skills, and achieve desired changes.

If you need help with anything related to ADHD, Autism, and/or Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), look no further. These topics can be very confusing and there can be a lot of misinformation out in the world about what these things are and how to help them. In addition, neurodiversity can be accompanied by many other mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, OCD, tic disorders, really reactive emotions, melt downs, and shame. The good news is that there is a lot of really helpful information that has been well researched and you can get effective and meaningful support.

All of my approaches serve my specialties including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, and family dynamics.
Beginning therapy takes courage. Take this moment to acknowledge that you’re taking the leap to create a more empowered life. It takes a lot to get here, which is why I’m here to hold space for all the parts of you: the parts that have suffered, the parts that have been invalidated, and the parts of you that are inspired and hold onto the dream that it can be better. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and all that has brought you to this point.

I offer a compassionate approach to psychotherapy that works through the body to bring unconscious information (often held as tensions, chronic illness, nervous system disorders, anxiety, depression, nightmares, low self-esteem and inabilities to function at full capacity)into conscious awareness, facilitating deep and lasting changes. Our childhood wounds and traumas become blocks to the manifestation of our purpose/gifts. I honor the inherent wisdom of my clients and help them find authentic expression of their gifts. My strengths are my ability to use my intuition to help clients "put the pieces together," and my own personal experience with resolving trauma.

Everyone's journey in life is filled with challenges that often help us to understand more fully who we are. Sometimes it is helpful to have another perspective, a guide, or tools to navigate these difficult stretches of the journey. I have worked with individuals, couples, and families in counseling for the past 20 years and was an educator prior. I work with a wide variety of clients, but have extensive experience working with anxiety, depression, divorce, parenting, life transitions, personal discovery, and spiritual issues.

I aim to support the deep and challenging work of helping you face your fears, get in touch with your emotional life, and help you discover what's going on that made your critical inner voice so powerful.
If you believe that knowing yourself in a deep way can open up potential space for repair and healing, I could be the right therapist for you. There is so much to grieve and love in this world of ours: our personal stories and family histories, the troubles of loved ones, our social and political pain, and the crisis facing our planet. All of this can feel exhausting or impossible to do alone. I work with patients who are creative, innovative, have unique perspectives on the world and are curious to open up to what is stuck in them in order to repair, heal and become more vital inside and within their relationships and the world.

Life transitions make everyone a little nervous but when we have the right tools we can navigate them with ease. Whether you are new to the area, starting a new job, going to a new school, or trying to form new relationships. It can be hard to navigate new phases in life and we often see an increase in anxiety around times of transition. We are committed to walking by your side, providing guidance, support, and understanding every step of the way.

I am also very experienced working with mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, gender dysphoria, and adjustment disorders.
None of us make it through life unscathed. We all need someone to be present, to listen, to help find solutions, to challenge our personal narratives and behaviors, and to walk with us through cdifficult times. I focus on creating a safe and warm space for self-discovery and to evaluate patterns of how one engages with self and others, to find new skills to cope with stress, to create a non-judgmental place for developing self-compassion and to meet your goals for change. If you are motivated for change, ready to explore your patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaviors, this might be the ideal time to seek therapy.

As a psychotherapist I specialize in working with men, athletes, and adolescents as well as people suffering from anxiety, trauma, and depression . I believe that for change to occur, there must be a strong foundation of trust, safety, and openness to experience in the therapeutic relationship. I aim to cultivate healing relationships with my clients in which they can grow from these pillars to experiment with new ways of being. I view change as arising from increased awareness of our physical and emotional experience and I strive to help others develop these areas through the cultivation of mindfulness, authenticity, and openness.

I help clients feel less anxious and more authentic in their relationships. I believe that many people experience struggle in their lives as a result of growing distant from their emotional compasses. I work with individual clients and couples to reconnect with these aspects of their experiences. Please note that I am only available for sessions via telehealth.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
