Everyone needs support from time to time. I work with clients to find answers to questions surrounding relationships, sadness and day to day intentional living. As a Jungian therapist, our work may involve exploration of imagery and pattern and your individual expression. We may utilize dreams, sand and other techniques to access the unconscious, as well as some traditional methods all to address anxiety and depression. I am dedicated to assisting anyone on this journey with the support they need to achieve their individual goals in overall wellness.

I work with diverse issues from depression, anxiety, relationship and self-esteem issues.
There are many theories, techniques, diagnoses, and labels out there. It is not my place to judge or label my clients. My clients are not numbers on a file, clients are people with the courage to seek out a professional to help them walk through their journeys. Each client is an individual with their own issues, needs, and wanting to be heard. It is often pain and/or despair that bring clients into counseling. I respect the courage it takes to be willing to change and overcome obstacles instead of being overcome by them.

You are a thoughtful, insightful person and find yourself behaving in ways that you don't want to without knowing why. Sometimes, you feel anxious and worried "for no reason." You find yourself feeling obligated to say yes when you really mean no. You feel like you have to change yourself to fit in with the people around you or else you won't be appreciated or accepted. The roller coaster of emotions becomes so overwhelming you decide to numb out with scrolling, substances, or Netflix to get some relief but you feel worse later. You worry there is something wrong with you but hope that there is relief from your anxiety and pain.

If you’ve been feeling lonely, anxious, or stressed, reaching out for support can be a positive first step towards healing. It’s important to know you do not have to go through this alone. Talking with someone can allow you to see how your thought patterns and actions impact the way you feel. My specialties include working with anxiety, stress, self-doubt, perfectionism, grief and loss, and life transitions. I also support individuals who are highly sensitive and struggling caregivers who often put their own mental health aside to care for others.

I believe that while our circumstances and stories are varied, we are all seeking connection, understanding and relief. Depression and anxiety often stem from profound experiences of loss or a disrupted sense of belonging. When we undergo significant losses, whether the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or the departure from a familiar community, we can feel adrift and disconnected. These experiences can erode our sense of purpose and identity, leading to feelings of isolation and despair, Rebuilding a sense of connection and finding new sources of support are crucial steps in the healing journey.

Like many of my clients, I know what it's like to be an anxious people pleaser who is overwhelmed by life's expectations.
Do you find yourself stuck in the past or hijacked by the future? Have you lost yourself through chronic people pleasing? Do you feel anxious around food, social events, or dating? If this sounds like you, you've come to the right place! I help adults discover life beyond the struggle of severe anxiety through an embodied, somatic approach. During our work together you will learn to tune into yourself, practice grounding and mindfulness, and ultimately leave each session feeling better than how you showed up.

I also enjoy assisting in life transitions, loss, & anxiety within a framework of building skills such as mindfulness or communication.
It is all too often we miss out on life as it unfolds, in the present moment. Our thoughts, feelings, and memories often leave us distracted, reactive, and approaching life as though it were a series of problems to be solved. In truth, some of us struggle with presence and reactivity more than others. Neurodiverse folks frequently struggle to regulate strong emotions, maintain healthy relationships, and manage activities of daily living.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
