It is a passion of mine to work with clients who face problems of trauma, stress, and coping with depression, and anxiety such as military veterans, and survivors of abuse.
“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself” (Rumi). As a trauma survivor who went on a personal healing journey, I learned how to help others simultaneously. Healing was hard work, but finding the right therapist was a huge piece of the puzzle. Traditional therapy fails so many trauma survivors. I aim to go beyond talk therapy to find the right modality for each unique client.

Do you excel in training but continue to disappoint yourself in competition? Do you wonder how your mental health impacts your performance? Are you looking for effective ways to improve your mental health and/or performance? Now, more than ever, athletes and high-performing individuals feel anxious, overwhelmed and uncertain about how to be their best when the standards for success continue to stretch human capacities. Not addressing these feelings of doubt and uncertainty can lead to long-term effects on tryouts, call-ups, college admissions, or job applications.

True transformational healing happens at the level of the soul. Traditional counseling focuses on fixing faulty thinking. Rather, let's uncover the negative unconscious beliefs about yourself that motivate this thinking. It is the quality of the relationship that you have with yourself that will ultimately determine how quickly you can manifest what you love.

I have 10 years of experience treating adults with anxiety, depression, early and chronic psychosis, personality disorders, substance use and trauma (to include race based).
Not accepting clients at this time- Do you feel like you’ve had a hard time coping with the stressors of your personal journey through life? We all often struggle with finding effective ways to cope with our challenges and at times we utilize ineffective ways because it’s what worked. My goal for clients is to provide an open, non judgmental place for individuals to reflect, meditate, refocus, reframe, and be intentional in their steps toward progress. I use an integrative approach to care which often include use of CBT, DBT, ACT, CPT, Heartmath (Biofeedback), Adlerian Therapy, Brainspotting (Phase 1 Trained).

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
