I have 14 years of experience helping individuals cope with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), physical and emotional abuse, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, grief and loss, ADHD, attachment disorder, and low self-esteem.
I strongly believe in the protective and positive intention of all challenging emotions and patterns of thought. My goal is to help my clients explore the sources of these patterns, listen to their unmet needs, and then work with these feelings in order to get the need met in a healthy way. I also encourage clients to increase their tolerance of these uncomfortable emotions, which then allows for growth. I validate, support, and accept clients right where they are, while also challenging them to take the lead in their progress and personal growth.

I enjoy working across the lifespan with anyone ready to improve issues with anxiety, depression, concentration, or self-worth .
Clients work with me to find the person hidden behind the protective walls they have built up to feel safe. They need, and want, to feel close to family and friends again but are scared it might not work out in their favor. Their goals are often to love themselves, speak up for themselves, and know they are capable no matter how hard life may be in this season. My clients want to let the past be the past and have their future go the way they've envisioned for so long.

Sometimes the strength you show is really hiding the shame and fear you are actually feeling. Difficult experiences in life like loss, grief, parenting, anxiety, depression or trauma might be why you need help, but giving yourself permission to ask feels overwhelming and impossible. Maybe you are the parent of a struggling child or adolescent who just cannot seem to find their way through anxiety and depression. Perhaps you are a teen wondering why life has to be so hard. Maybe the trauma of your past has taken up residence in your present. No matter what you are facing, You do not have to do it alone.

Each one represents a relationship, worry, trauma.
So many therapists, so little time. The good news? By the end of a short phone call, you’ll probably have a sense of whether I’m likely to be the right one. Why? Well, there is something about the sense of comfort and general experience that is so important for successful therapy but is so hard to tell in advance. Usually, you get a clear sense just from the phone call: Did you even get a call back from the therapist? Was it awkward? Easy? Did they really listen? What does your gut say? Ten minutes and you’re done done with the first part.

I primarily work with individuals who are facing any of the following challenges: life transitions; trauma; anxiety/phobias; and/or grief/loss.
There is a brilliance in each of us that can guide us through the dark. My work with clients facilitates the process of discovering that brilliance, tapping into their own innate strengths and wisdoms, and provides space to unfold into a life that is gratifying, meaningful, and authentic. I approach my work with clients with empathy, compassion, and non-judgment.

I take a somewhat novel approach to therapy, and I work best with individuals experiencing high levels of stress and anxiety due to anxiety disorders, life transitions, trauma and relationship issues. I work to help people in high stress careers overcome anxiety, lead a more productive life, and make room for the important relationships that provide a sense of meaning. I enjoy working with people who are motivated to change, but feel stuck and do not know exactly where to start.

As your therapist, I will help you target the impact of anxiety and engage in identity development to help foster a better understanding of yourself, your values, and your goals.
Do you "have it all together" on the outside, but on the inside, feel like you are falling apart? Perhaps you find yourself looking ahead to the next milestone or achievement–graduating college, landing a high-paying job, getting married–thinking it will bring you happiness…only to be let down when you get there and it still feels like something is missing. You are not alone. I specialize in working with driven, highly-motivated emerging adults who are struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, and self-doubt.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
