I have worked with individuals and families across the lifespan and have found my passion to land within the topics of trauma, parental mental health, and teen and early adulthood anxiety and depression.
Using an integrated therapeutic approach informed by trauma-focused CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, and interpersonal theories we will work together to uncover and address challenging themes present within your life that are limiting your capacity to reach your fullest potential. Through processing your own unique story, I will support you in recognizing your individual strengths, healing from your past traumas, and noticing how harmful patterns have impacted your relationships. Together we will build your skills to better engage in your life authentically and intentionally.

As a Depth Psychological oriented therapist with over 20 years of experience, I help people through life's difficulties. I see clients who are: feeling drained, depressed or anxious; struggling with feeling that something is “wrong” with them because of their current challenges; having difficulty navigating a relationship that they aren’t sure is good for them; struggling to “get over” something emotional they’ve gone through; having difficulty finding meaning or purpose in their life or wondering about the greater story they are living out and how the psyche is pushing them towards this.

Do you feel like you are falling apart? Maybe you've tried telling yourself that if you just ignore what is troubling you it will go away. Or maybe you've tried to numb the pain by using alcohol. drugs. food. exercise. Even throwing yourself into work. Unfortunately, these strategies only last so long before your body starts to shut down. Maybe now you your mind won't shut off. You can't relax. Your sleep is disrupted. Maybe now it's time to talk to a professional. I specialize in treating high achieving adults suffering from mild to severe anxiety, clinical depression and/or a problematic relationship with food or alcohol.

I've worked with a wide range of issues including but not limited to addictions, anxiety, depression, bi-polar, stress and anger management, men's issues, PTSD, work/life transitions, and couples/relationship issues. Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
