Sometimes, we find ourselves buried under challenging life circumstances. When this happens, we are left with three options: remain stuck and undecided, fight through, wounded and bitter, or emerge stronger, wiser and more resilient. I love coming alongside clients who feel they are without hope, and helping them find their inner strengths to emerge resilient. I have experience working with trauma, grief, PTSD, pain management, postpartum depression, chronic medical conditions, OCD, substance use, ADHD, depression, anxiety, bi-polar, and marriage and family issues.

Life is too short to succumb to unhealthy relationships, harbor resentments, allow trauma to dominate us, or remain in a constant state of anxiety or anger.
Let me pour you a cup of tea or coffee, and let’s talk. Many perceive therapy as missing the opportunity to truly connect with the therapist as real people. It often feels like a professional exchange rather than a personal interaction. I’m here to guide you toward solutions and personal transformation. Let’s make this process both effective and enriching. Reaching out to a therapist might feel daunting, but I encourage you to pause, take a deep breath, and make that call. I’m here to assist. My greatest passion is cultivating healing and hope for individuals who have been or are undergoing traumatic/stressful experiences.

I also work with teens, women, and older adults who struggle with trauma, infertility, life transitions, grief, self-esteem, self-worth, body image, anxiety, depression, etc.
Let's face it, raising teenagers is hard. No one prepares you for the day to day emotional challenges that come with caring for your teen. I will also tell you a little secret, it is also hard being a teen. Adolescence is a time where teens are figuring out who they are, where they fit in, all while trying to balance raging hormones and the never ending pressure to be someone else. Whether you are the parent struggling to communicate better with your teen, or the teen trying to navigate your burgeoning independence, my hope is to provide a warm space where healing and restoration can begin.

Areas of focus include depression, anxiety, behavioral disorders, and adult/child trauma.
As a melanated person, I recognize the uniqueness in the Black and Latinx experience as well as the importance of implementing cultural practices to address your well-being. Therefore, I understand your search for mental health services that aim to recognize your unique lived experience. We are often living our lives in survival mode, adapting and assimilating to fit a multitude of spaces where we are seen as the minority. Given the trauma Black and Latinx people experience on a daily, it is easy to feel alone and unheard. I know what it's like to suffer in silence, and I don't want you to know that feeling.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
