At some point in our lives we may feel lost, overwhelmed, or stuck in repetitive patterns. We could be struggling with waves of anxiety, depression, or the ongoing echoes of traumatic experiences. Alternatively, we might be feeling confused during one of life’s many transitions. In therapy, we start by creating safety in the room and ourselves. We learn to recognize what is happening inside and out. We cultivate feelings of self-acceptance. We get curious about our internal and external experience. We discover self-nurturing techniques in order to survive, repair, heal and thrive. This is the therapeutic experience in my practice.

Sometimes life is too difficult to navigate on your own. Psychotherapy is one of the most powerful tools to bring healing and transformation to your life, and choosing to pursue it is brave. You might be seeking therapy to decrease anxiety or depression, heal from a trauma, improve your relationships, rid yourself of chronic pain, or navigate school with ADHD or a learning disability. You also might be seeking therapy on behalf of your child or your family. Regardless of what leads you to therapy, I understand the importance of finding a therapist that is the right fit.

My focus is on building healing and developing strong personal relationships. I believe successful relationships are the key for psychological, physical, and spiritual health. I provide insight therapy for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, abuse, and low self-esteem. Insight into these problematic concerns can help heal the pain that is interfering with a person's life. I view therapy as an adventure into the world within. It's vital to understand the inner forces that fuel our feelings. A respectful understanding of these dynamics will create a fresh perspective and promote a mastery of our lives, to know one's own person, preference, and boundaries.

My specific areas of interest include loss, trauma, specific and generalized anxiety, perfectionism, teens and young adults coming into their own unique identities, adult.
I hold the fundamental belief that a compassionate, reflective and authentically direct therapeutic relationship can help you explore and express the parts of yourself necessary to grow and heal. This can be true for particularly trying periods of life, for emotional health maintenance, or for persistent challenges. I work from a psychodynamic, attachment-focused lens, and utilize a holistic but grounded approach to clarify and address the key memories, limiting beliefs, thoughts and feelings that are at the root cause of distress or discomfort.

More people struggle with anxiety and depression than would like to admit it. It can also feel very isolating and hopeless at times. Whether you are a teen or adult, it can be important to talk to someone who can help with processing your experiences. If you are motivated for change and looking for someone to keep you accountable, you have come to the right place.

Don’t worry about pronouncing my last name properly.
Psychotherapy is a collaborative process. Authenticity and trust are the foundation of that process, so it's important to find someone you feel comfortable working with. Uncovering your inner strength and actuating your emotional intelligence begins with exploration of the psychic house you live in. I help people with anxiety, depression, bereavement, trauma, racial and gender anxiety, substance abuse, and career transition.

I'm passionate about helping people who are curious and thoughtful, who struggle with anxiety and relationships and want a better understanding of themselves and their impact on the world around them. I have a specialty in working with those who are overthinkers, who long for deeper relationships but get caught in circular patterns of repetitive and persistent thoughts that prevent them from fully being present. I work with individuals and couples to develop new insights into their patterns, mitigate anxiety, establish balance in their lives, and develop more meaningful & satisfying emotional and sexual connections.

I can facilitate this process by providing a safe, non-intrusive, supportive environment. I prefer to acknowledge, build and reinforce the client's strengths rather than focus on old negative beliefs. 25+ years experience.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
