I believe that every individual and relationship has the capacity for healing and transformation. My approach is to develop a safe, empathetic, and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

My therapeutic practice involves a gentle, safe and collaborative approach in the treatment of trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and early relational wounds. We accomplish this process through psychodynamic theory and body oriented methods such as Somatic Experiencing which integrates neuroscience, mindfulness, and attachment theory. The nervous system is the pathway between the mind and the body where many of our past experiences and feelings are stored and often "stuck" causing emotional and physical pain. The goal of therapy is to release these unaccessed areas and strengthen one's sense of self, find resiliency and tolerance and have the capacity to build solid interpersonal relationships.

I thrive in my work with creative, compassionate adults who are experiencing anxiety, burnout, or relationship stress. We may be a fit to work together if you are looking for a safer space to examine feelings of dissatisfaction or disconnect, and are curious about how to foster a greater sense of self-esteem and worthiness. I particularly enjoy working with self-described high achievers, and women in historically male-dominated industries. If you're ready to navigate your life more comfortably, gain confidence in communicating your needs, and build skills to better cope with your feelings - I look forward to supporting you in that.

In Westwood near UCLA, I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, addictions, eating disorders, breast cancer and relationships. I provide psychotherapy for adults and children in a safe, supportive environment where we will explore behaviors and emotions that hamper healthy self-expression and relationships. By identifying personal goals we can gain a better understanding of the repetitive patterns that block these goals. Often coping strategies from childhood are no longer useful. By becoming mindful of these patterns, we can begin to let these patterns go and begin to form new patterns that will move us in the direction we want.

I specialize in helping young adults & adults navigate anxiety, stress management, life transitions & the impacts of trauma.
Hi there, and welcome! One of my central beliefs that drives how I show up with clients is this: You make sense. Throughout our lives, we are deeply impacted by both good & difficult experiences. We build defenses & habits that may have ensured safety in the past, but are now contributing to difficulty & suffering in our personal lives. This belief impacts my work with clients in that my assumption will always be that you are not "crazy": the way that you are & what you are experiencing makes sense. Together we can understand & navigate the factors that are increasing distress in your life.

Whether you are dealing with an unexpected change, trauma, anxiety, health challenge, relationship stress, depression or other mental health issue, having a trusted guide on the path can make all the difference. Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
