Are you struggling to navigate each day, weighed down by exhaustion, persistent low mood, excessive worry, or a state of hypervigilance? Have you battled anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use challenges, or struggled with your self-esteem? I want to assure you that you're not alone in your journey. I firmly believe that one of life's most courageous acts is to embark on a path of self-discovery, to gain insight into your personal journey, and to open the door to healing and growth. A central theme running through the modalities I utilize is mindfulness, self-compassion, and heightened awareness of both the body and emotions.

I listen carefully guiding you to uncover and explore long-avoided feelings and longings that underlie states of depression, anxiety, or self-sabotage.
Do you wake up feeling depressed dreading to get through another day? Do you try to fill the void in your life with sensation-seeking behaviors: alcohol, drugs, food, sex, shopping, TV, video games, internet surfing, online gaming, gambling etc.?
Have you lost touch with the aspirations and dreams that used to motivate and inspire you? Are your relationships troubled?
I can help!
Seeking therapy takes courage and the prospect of talking to a stranger can be intimidating. I relate to the discomfort you may experience and provide a confidential, non-judgmental, supportive space to work with you.

My clinical areas of interests include, but are not limited to: anxiety and depression, trauma/PTSD, relationship issues, substance abuse, parenting issues, stress and lifestyle management, grief and bereavement, phase of life transitions/identity issues, and the area of health psychology (effects of medical issues on mental health, pain/weight management, smoking cessation, etc.
My style of therapy is one that is both collaborative and supportive. I believe that all individuals have the capacity to make lasting changes in their lives. I help the individual tap into those abilities by challenging the conscious and unconscious barriers that can impede growth and change. Using psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral techniques, I provide a safe, nurturing environment where individuals can explore their challenges and unearth their full potential.

I have a particular interest and strength in working with teens & adults suffering from anxiety & depression.
My goal in therapy is to facilitate self-exploration in an attempt to heal and make sense of difficult situations, emotional states and relationships. I do this by providing a safe space to explore, free of judgments and agendas. Many of us get stuck in particular patterns just like grooves in a record and we never get out of those patterns. Through work in therapy we can create new grooves that result in different responses to the situations, emotions and relationships of life. The aim of therapy is to develop an awareness of our cognitive, behavioral and emotional patterns so that we can change them. Teletherapy & sliding scale.

I work primarily with adults and teens who are experiencing depression, anxiety, panic attacks, grief, self-injury, low self-esteem, relationship issues, gender dysphoria, psychosis, and life transitions.
Most people come to me when problems have become unbearable. They feel alone and stuck and powerless to do anything about it. They come in hoping I can tell them what they need to do to feel better. I provide support and guidance so that my patients do not have to bear their struggles alone. We work collaboratively to understand what is not working and why. We examine past patterns of experience to help us to understand current feelings and behaviors. By addressing the underlying issues that are creating problems, we can create lasting change and transformation.

Psychotherapy is a conjoint effort between therapist and client to bring issues and behaviors up to the surface, to clarify, where and how everything from depression to anxiety plays a part in your life. First then will symptoms like self-injury, substance abuse, anger and pain subside so you can become more in control over your life and feel harmony.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
