Research is consistently showing it is effective treating anxiety and depression, and improving Executive Functioning of our Central Nervous Systems.
I strive to be a positive investment, not a cost, to people who choose to trust me and work toward their higher potential. I believe we each have more potential than we realize. I know I do not succeed unless you do. There are ways to deal with stress, heal from trauma, readjust our underlying beliefs, and move on, thrive, living a life we can value and find worthwhile.

I work with clients who are struggling with substance abuse, addiction, anxiety, depression, anger, identity, and transition.
Seeking counseling can be a difficult first step. It's hard for us to acknowledge our pain, and often we feel guilty about it. Feelings aren't good or bad, they just are--the consequences of those feelings are what we can influence. Counseling is important because it can provide a safe place to speak the truth about what we are going through. Our truth is powerful and can be a motivator for making changes to how we feel and what we do. Counseling can help us identify our values, goals, & beliefs and to harness them to help us heal.

My approach to therapy is simple; provide an environment that is safe for YOU to begin exploring problems in your life that you feel influence your ability to find genuine happiness on a day-to-day basis. Our journey focuses on not assuming that the answers are going to be readily available, but appreciating the questions that surface during every session so that in time you can live your way into finding your genuine self. ***Virtual online therapy only at this time.*** Life can become difficult at times. We have fears and regrets, anxieties and sorrows, insecurities and doubts. People are searching for greater happiness, healthier relationships, increased meaning, and rewarding accomplishments. But despite these challenges, I believe we all have the power to overcome. Hearts can be healed, fears can be conquered, and depression can be overcome. The act of being seen, heard, and understood is healing in and of itself. My approach to therapy is one of being very genuine and often mixing in humor.

— Visit Justinlanden.com to learn more —Aren’t we all, in our unique way, searching to deepen our connection with self and others—to feel a sense of belonging, to be seen, heard, known, and loved? At times, when we feel distant from our self and others, naturally, we experience varying levels of fear, anxiety, sadness, and/or anger; this is the body’s way of letting us know that something isn’t quite right. Instead of pushing away from those signals I encourage my clients to welcome and befriend the challenging emotions. In this way, we can begin to feel more fully connected to all parts of ourselves and others.

Relationships evoke our deepest longings and fears, and touch on wounds that may have been long hidden, wounds which we’ve often lived a lifetime without recognizing. The pain of disconnection we feel in relationships, the heated arguments and periods of distance or alienation, can leave us lost and confused, stuck in emotional knots, with our desire for closeness vying against our protective reactions. Cycles of conflict may escalate, and with them, the pain. All the while, deep down, we quietly long to share ourselves more honestly and fully with those whom we are closest to.

I specialize in working with individuals and partners experiencing difficulty with physical arousal or orgasm, performance anxiety or shame, sexual compulsivity/sex addiction, desire discrepancy, and trauma.
Sexual intimacy is an important component of human connection, and feeling stuck in recurring patterns of conflict, shame, or feeling misunderstood can have a significant impact on relationships, self-esteem, and overall wellbeing. As a sex therapist with advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), I understand how difficult it can be to navigate these sensitive topics with yourself and with partners. Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
