What if you could learn to view difficult emotions as an opportunity for growth instead of a weakness? It’s true that suffering is universal, but with the right perspective you can learn to see that as a gift; a source of energy you can use to propel you towards your life’s goals and eventual contentment. Many seek to find happiness by changing their circumstances, but I hope to show you that accepting your current circumstances is the key to permanent change. My calling is to help you find peace and contentment, specializing in depression and anxiety, addiction, grief, existential concerns and parenting skills.

When there is *Unfinished Business* there is room for past trauma (Complexed and PTSD) to seemingly terrorize us in a variety of ways ie: night terrors, psychosomatic , panic attacks etc.
I invite you to pause with me in this present space (intentionally) and take 2 deep and slow breaths from the abdomen (Back straight). What are you noticing in your body? What are these sensations (Dreams, Archetypes , Omens, Images, pain, fear, sadness etc.)? Where is it located in your body presently? Yes! the body keeps the score. It is a receptacle of programs in which we are oftentimes unaware we overlook; desensitized to its non -verbal wisdom. In fact, we generally weren't taught to slow down and pay attention to it during those crucial moments in our lives in which our self image and esteem are impacted..

Nothing seems to be working. You feel stuck and hopeless. You survived a not-so-great childhood (maybe a bad one)…but even now that you're on your own, things don't seem to be falling into place. You don't feel good about yourself no matter what you do (you might be successful and hard-working), and you either avoid or seem to choose the wrong relationships (or they're so stressful). Things may be falling apart... or maybe they have always felt broken. And.... you have headaches, back problems, or a condition that doesn't respond to treatment. All of it makes it hard to wake up without feeling overwhelmed and hopeless... exhausted.

Every day is exactly the same. Your alarm buzzes, you drag yourself out of bed, go to your unfulfilling job, come home, watch TV, and fall asleep. Rinse and repeat. You feel like you’re just going through the motions of life rather than actually living it. You want to shake things up – try something new and exciting. But you’re frightened. You’ve gotten used to this uneventful existence. Sure, it’s boring and monotonous, but at least it’s safe. And the longer you wait to make a change, the harder it becomes. You know that life is short, and you need to take advantage of it, but you simply don’t know how. You feel hopelessly stuck.

Do you or someone you love have to get sober, but struggles? Do others not understand why this is difficult, and sometimes impossible? I realize that when trying to get sober, it is important to have someone in your corner who can understand that you truly want to stop using, but just can't by yourself. My focus is a) combine our efforts to get started in sobriety, and b) learn and practice research proven coping skills to get past those overwhelming emotions in a supportive, accountable, non-threatening environment.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
