As a counselor, my belief is we do the best we can with what we know. I believe there is a need behind behaviors and once that need is identified and addressed, new behaviors can develop. We need a space that we can be heard, validated, and learn new ways to tackle difficulties in our lives. I specialize in working with children and families with concerns such as anger, anxiety, depression, grief and social problems by increasing understanding and coping strategies.

Everyone's journey is different, but anxiety, indecision, and self-doubt can cause anyone to lose their way, disrupting relationships and interfering with the lives we wish to create.
The foundation of my approach is curiosity. My individual therapy style is relational, nurturing, and insightful. Whether working with young people or adults, I strive to provide them with individual tools to transform into more openhearted and authentic versions of themselves. My maxim: You can heal so many parts of your life by approaching it with a curious heart and open mind.

I work with people like you, who experience a sense of dread around being stuck in their jobs, relationships, and futures. There are fears with your meaning in life, your identity, caregiver burnout, and traumas. I just want to say, those are not small emotions you are having; I can only imagine the weight you are carrying and how overwhelming life can feel. But I see you in there. The real you behind the fear, the anger, and the loss. And accept you. All of you. My hope is that together, we can honor that you are exactly who you needed to be to survive this far, while offering you a chance to be who you want to be too.

I specialize working with: Depression and anxiety, grief and loss, relationship issues, codependency, personality disorders, infidelity, divorce/separation, abandonment and rejection issues, loss of purpose/direction, perfectionism, obsessive thinking, low self-worth, control issues, career planning, parenting skills, conflict resolution and communication skills, self-esteem, identity and spirituality, wellness and more.
Sometimes the hardest thing we might do is taking the first step to begin counseling- getting help means we have struggles. The issues we face in life have the ability to deeply damage us, but also the potential for personal growth. Be encouraged that the first step to emotional healing is difficult, but it's worth taking. We can know how to love ourselves better if our value can be affirmed by someone who cares, and you can face them knowing you are not alone. I can help you reach your goals for counseling, or perhaps even find out where to begin.

In the midst of what feels like a quarter-life crisis? Maybe you're drowning in stress, and anxiety, or struggling with a deep feeling of unfulfillment despite doing everything "right." It can feel overwhelming constantly thinking about the "shoulds" and "could haves" of life without any end in sight. Plus the constant pressure of having your 20s and 30s match the picture-perfect adventures you see on Instagram can be exhausting. Together we can figure it out. Change can be hella hard, so let's figure out how to make it happen together.

Hello, my name is Doc Davis and as a person who has often lived outside the "mainstream" of society, I enjoy working with others from the gamer, cosplay, fandom, nerdom, LBGTQ+, kink, and other so called "fringe" communities. It is often hard enough to feel like we fit in throughout our lives, and when we align ourselves with things that some may shun, it can be infinitely more complicated and sometimes devastating. With issues around social anxiety, self-identity, navigating the nonacceptance of others, and self-acceptance being just some the things people have to deal with, it can often get in the way of a truly authentic self.

By offering a safe therapeutic environment, you'll be able to explore topics ranging from, but not limited to: difficult life-transitions, conflicts with loved ones, grief, anxiety, depression, racial disparities, sexuality, or traumatic events.
Hi there and welcome! Reaching out is one of the hardest steps, but I truly believe everyone can benefit from therapy. We all face tough situations, and talking through those situations with someone who can offer support in a non-judgmental, unbiased way can be extremely helpful. Since multiple factors affect how people respond to different experiences, it is essential that your treatment plan be individualized for your specific situation. Regardless of what brings you into therapy, I strive to offer these individualized plans by pulling from various therapy modalities while including you every step the way.

I have worked with individuals and couples contending with depression, anxiety, anger, mood instability, substance abuse, finding purpose and meaning, grief and loss, low self-esteem, and relationship dynamics with partners, friends, family and coworkers.
While experiencing pain is a part of the human experience, long term suffering does not have to be. Life brings with it a rich and vast set of experiences which can include complex and confusing family dynamics, navigating relationships, death of a loved one or an animal, an end of a relationship or friendship and existential questions around who we are, what our purpose(s) are in life and why we matter. For some people these existential questions and the emotions that accompany them have come closer to awareness in the face of climate change.

Now offering Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy. We all seek out therapeutic support for different reasons. Some of us have survived painful life experiences that we can't seem to get past. Others are stuck in the cycle of anxiety or depression and have not found resolution. Some of us still react out of survival skills that we may have needed as a child, but can't stop them from coming up in our present life. I create a container that enables you to heal your nervous system, build emotional resiliency and shift harmful mental beliefs. I want to help my clients find resolution, not relief.

I use my training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to inform my approach to treatment of mood disorders, anxiety, and difficult behaviors.
Psychotherapy is a collaborative effort, and I encourage my clients to take an active role in making decisions about their treatment. While I make my clients’ goals the focus of their treatment, I also seek to engender in my clients the following abilities: mental flexibility, emotional control, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness, and self-enquiry.

Stop feeding OCD, starve it! In therapy, you can learn skills to gather the courage and grit to face your fears and tame the anxiety.
Are you struggling with obsessive, intrusive, or disturbing thoughts that seem stuck or looping in your head? Do you find yourself compulsively arguing with "yourself" or doing repetitive behaviors in an urgent effort to bring down your anxiety? Are you beating yourself up for thinking these kinds of thoughts? Often intrusive thoughts can be very scary, violent, and go against the very things you value and hold dear. Sometimes it's very challenging to even say these thoughts out loud! I offer you a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space to share what is burdening you. I'll teach you to conquer the OCD bully.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
