For people who struggle with anxiety and depression, other mental health problems, relationships, past or recent trauma, or attention issues, finding a good therapist can feel like an insurmountable challenge. Finding one who takes your insurance, is trauma informed, an LGBTQIA+ ally, culturally affirming, and actually "gets" you can feel like winning the lottery! We really want that for you. Live Oak Collective was founded with the goal of connecting dynamic therapists with Texans who want to heal, grow, change, and challenge themselves.

I am currently accepting new adult and adolescent clients. My clients are typically individuals that have experienced trauma, and are working on integrating and processing those experiences. I also have experience treating individuals managing acute and chronic anxiety and depression. As a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I enjoy working with other Queer individuals--especially young people looking to find comfort and safety in their identity. Additionally, I am a HAES (Health At Every Size) aligned therapist.

I have a passion for helping clients reduce anxiety, stress, confusion, sadness, and pain - so that they can live more fulfilling/happy lives.
Therapy is a safe place to explore challenges in our lives & find strengths that we never knew we had. It has the potential to lift us out of our rut so that we can finally make the changes we've longed for. Whether you are working to decrease your anxiety, unmasking and living authentically, changing careers, exploring your gender or sexual identity, or trying to change your relationships, therapy can be a great place to get a fresh perspective & face these challenges with a champion by your side. My own identity as a multiracial, queer, gender nonconforming therapist enables me to understand clients who feel like outsiders.

I know the visceral pain of grief and have joined many people in exploring the complex and ever-evolving emotions within it. I often work with people after the death of a loved one, including those who’ve lost someone to suicide, an often uniquely isolating experience. You may be experiencing loss related to a breakup, family disconnection, or change in identity. These bring grief, too. All sorts of life changes can deeply impact us and are worthy of attention. I also work with people seeking support for anxiety and self-criticism. If you’re really hard on yourself and want to cultivate more self-compassion, we may be a good fit.

I understand that starting therapy and finding the right counselor can be a difficult, and sometimes anxiety-provoking experience.
I work with adults and children. I consider my client’s cultural context and values, so that our work together is sensitive, relevant, and respectful of your individuality. My practice is also inclusive and affirming of queer-identified people. I am aware of the ways that one’s intersecting identities can shape their experiences, I am here to offer guidance, validation, and understanding. With children, I provide a space for kids to learn about their feelings, and how to process them. I draw from child-centered play therapy techniques and tailor my approach to honor your child's agency, individual preferences, and interests.

So many of us are feeling disconnected and lost in a world of social media, apps, and constant information bombardment- it's not wonder we are anxious and depressed!.

Learning to feel and process emotions and develop better ways of communicating your needs can make a huge difference in the quality of your life. I help my clients learn real life skills to improve their relationships, their confidence, and their sense of self. No more of the same old shit, let’s start breaking cycles.

I work with a wide range of clientele, including those dealing with women's and/or men's issues, life transitions, anxiety, depression, body image issues/self-love, adverse childhood experiences, and others.
I naturally work from a strengths-based, client-centered perspective and feel that collaboration and rapport are key components in the therapeutic process. My goal is to help clients heal and flourish in their lives. Through deeper emotional exploration, things that seem to keep getting us "stuck" can be examined and worked through, resulting in true healing and change. In our sessions, I work with my clients in exploring thoughts, emotions, experiences, relationships, behaviors, etc. and together we work towards a healthier and happier life.

They gain confidence in themselves while decreasing uncomfortable feelings such as shame, guilt, sadness, and worry.
Many life changes, emotions, & challenges come with a diagnosis. Given that it often takes 2 years to get a diagnosis, you've likely been struggling with this for awhile. That's true if it's your diagnosis or the diagnosis of someone you love. I specialize in working with people with chronic illness (cancer, autoimmune illnesses, etc.), caregivers (for children, spouses, elderly parents), older adults, & those with cognitive challenges (dementia, etc.). I’ve worked with people who are dying & their grieving loved ones. I provide online therapy in California, Texas, & Mississippi. Please see below for insurances I take by state.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
