As a REAL sports psychologist, I have a unique practice in that I specialize in working with athletes who have the desire to take their game to the next level. Being a competitive athlete helps me relate to other competitive people in sports or business. My primary focus is on confidence building and the elimination of performance anxiety. I use a 3 tiered approach to training: Perspective Training, Mental Skills Training, and Applied Settings (if applicable at a sporting location). I am the only professional to offer that kind of travel service. We also offer Coaching Certification Programs for those who are interested in teaching.

I have worked with folks with chronic pain, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and trauma.
You're probably tired of feeling confused, stressed out, afraid, guilty, or some other unwanted emotion that keeps circling in your head. It's exhausting carrying those emotions around. It starts to affect your daily life and those around you, too! I hope you are here because you're thinking, "Is there something I could try?" Yes! I hope you're asking yourself, "Where do I start?"

The facades will eventually fade and what will be left is depression, anxiety, anger, and fear.
If you are exploring therapy options for you and/or your loved one, then I guess it is safe to say that you are at the point where you feel you’ve tried and tried to fix the same issues only to gain limited to no success. Our goal at CHART Counseling Services is Creating Hope And Restoring Trust. I specialize in helping individuals; young and old, families, and couples gain the necessary tools/skills to be an effective communicator, become assertive, set boundaries, increase confidence and self-esteem, and more importantly become overall mentally fit to face day to day life challenges.

Are you feeling stuck and ready to live like you again? Living with anxiety can be crippling. Watching your child struggle with anxiety locked away from your efforts to help is overwhelming. If your anxiety runs the show you know you miss out on friends, family, and unlocking your potential. If your child is struggling they may be having behaviors that you KNOW are not them but you can't seem to get a handle on. Anxious or traumatized kids are often acting out kids and getting them to talk about the real problems can feel impossible. If you're an adult with trauma you may not have learned how to do that either. You can be better.

I was raised in a very dysfunctional family. While I will not go into details about this, that part of my life; the stress, anxiety, and depression led me to have a strong desire to not only understand the principles behind mental health but help others in dealing with their issues thus allowing them a bit of solace, easing that burden. Counselors, social workers, and psychologists are all people too, we usually are not perfect people trying to lead you down the perfect path. We just want to help ease your mental burden and improve its health. If you’re having problems with mental health, I would like to assist you.

Let’s face it, it’s been rough in this post pandemic world, but you are not alone. We've been diagnosed by social media apps and are learning more about depression, anxiety, lack of emotions or lack of ability to regulate them, generational trauma, and everything in between, but what do we do about it? My clients are the ones tired of letting stuff live in their head rent free and want to challenge those crippling narratives. My clients know they deserve better but may need to work on building confidence to realize they are the writer of their own story.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
