My other area of specialization is dealing with issues related to various traumas - anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, acute traumatic stress, phobias, obsessions & compulsive disorders.
Our basic theory is that therapy can help a client deal with current issues -and works best when the client and therapist join together to work on these issues. I don't believe therapy should take a lifetime, but I hope to be your therapist, as needed, through out your life. I specialize in "Relationship Issues" - through Counseling and Coaching. My goal is to help the Couple decide what is best for them, & help them accomplish that.. . In Couples Coaching, the partners learn life skills that will change their relationship. Couples Coaching focuses on proven skills and techniques for the quickest, solution to couples' issues.

Then I am the one to call! I focus on helping kids, moms, parents, adults, and couples work through stress, anxiety, depression, and life's daily conflict.
I am so proud of you for taking the first step in the therapy process! I'm so glad you choose YOU! No more putting it off for tomorrow or saying maybe it will work itself out. I understand what it means to struggle while trying to achieve your dreams and go through life. We can do this together! I have experienced life and all it has to offer! Now let me talk specifically to my parents! I was a middle school teacher and school counselor, so if there is one thing that I do know it’s understanding teenagers. Are you experiencing a teenager whose actions have changed, seem different, or experiencing different behaviors!

Many of us struggle with feelings of insecurity, anger, anxiety, and sadness. We may find ourselves wishing that relationships with our families, romantic partners, or friends were more fulfilling. Sometimes the struggle to decipher how to live a more fulfilling life can be a lonely one. If you feel this way, know that you are not alone and there is help. After working as a therapist for over a decade, what I have found is that no one wants to live a "less than" life, yet many do not know how to live any differently.

I also have expertise in working with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and adjustment concerns as well.
Do you ever feel like your choices are limited and like your movement towards growth is stunted? Therapy provides the opportunity to tap into the wisdom of how to live a more fulfilling life that is hidden within all of us, but at times feels out of reach. My work is to facilitate deep exploration of who you are, your needs, what propels you towards change, and what shapes the choices you make in your life. You can re-write the remaining parts of your life's story because you will have access to the author again: YOU.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
