No matter what your struggles may be, my goal is to meet you where you are, help identify your strengths and build on those as we work toward the change you desire. My clients feel heard, and they are equipped with tools to find balance in their daily lives. Whether people come because they are depressed or overwhelmed with anxiety, their marriage is in trouble or they want to strengthen a strong relationship, my goal is the same: we manage immediate challenges while developing a plan to confront the deeper issues that prevent them from leading a balanced life.

I deliver cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based treatments to adult, seniors, and teens with a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and adjustment problems, such as anxiety, stress, depression, and relationship problems. I try to build on an individual's strengths and individualize therapy to each person's need. I believe psychotherapy can help individuals most effectively use their resources to increase self-understanding, to improve decision-making, to solve problems, and to create paths to the lives they want. I use mindfulness training to help clients live in the moment, with a compassionate and nonjudgmental approach.

Are you tired of going down "Memory Lane" only to come back to "Stuck Avenue"? We've all heard "just let it go" or "get over it" and "the past is the past". If only it was that simple! The truth is, letting go and moving forward often requires a lot of mental and physical energy that sometimes we just don't have. It means waking up and pretending that you are living your best life when in reality you feel defeated. If this is you, I am here to help get rid of the excess baggage that causes pain, trauma, and fears in your day to day life. Let's stop existing and live! Together, let's Create Happiness and Restore Trust (CHART).

I work with patients on issues related to anxiety, depression, grief, relationships, and family conflict.
When life gets messy, the path forward can be difficult to see. To help navigate these circumstances, I use an integrative approach to therapy based on what benefits each unique individual or family the most. It is always my goal to provide a safe and compassionate counseling environment, creating a space of openness and honesty without fear of any judgment. It brings me joy to see those who have entrusted me with their care overcome obstacles that once blocked their path forward.

Are you suffering from anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD or stress? It might be time to stop letting your temporary struggles become your-life long identity. We can work together to help identify the source of your pain and work towards living a less stressful life. Through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for teens and adults, we can learn how to recognize distorted thinking patterns to make lasting life changes. The first step is reaching out for help. Next it is important to find a therapist you connect with. I pride myself on providing a safe, non judgmental, supportive and empathic environment.

I am committed to working hard alongside my clients to provide professional, insightful counsel that is rooted in a biblical worldview. Many of the people I work with struggle against persistent anxiety, regularly fight off dark thoughts, or suffer as a result of trauma. Often, those individual experiences are even deeply interwoven with one another. Amidst our suffering and pain, I believe the Lord is faithful to bring freedom and healing.

Children and adults have many stressors and concerns in their lives that may be difficult to talk about or share with close friends and family. Many having the fear of being judged hesitate sharing their true fears and anxieties and small children may not even have the words to properly describe what they are feeling. I provide a safe environment where people can come and talk about (through talk therapy, activity therapy, or play therapy) their experiences in their day to day lives and how it effects them. I further assist parents to build on their parenting skills and open the lines of communication.

Therapy can be very helpful in addressing problems you may be having in your life. If you struggle with relationship problems, decision making, depression, anxiety, self esteem, impluse control, trauma, substance abuse, grief, addiction or life transitions; I can provide a neutral non-judgmental space to explore and resolve these issues. Many people believe they should be able to solve problems on their own and seek help often waiting until the situation has grown unmanageable. However, early interventions and proactive actions tend to lesson the impact of painful experiences, allowing you to move past problems more easily and quickly.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
