What are the thoughts in your head telling you? Are you paying attention to them? Past traumas and generational stories can often be like old recordings playing repeatedly in our minds without us noticing. Yet, over time, these thoughts can lead to depression, anxiety, anger, relationship issues, and general dissatisfaction with our lives. The good news is this: you are not your thoughts! You are so much more and have a vast potential for growth. Are you ready to heal your past and reconcile your present circumstances, in order to build a strong foundation for your future?

You want something to change. You feel overwhelmed. Anxiety and stress keep growing daily and you wonder if you will ever be able to understand what is going on inside of you. Perhaps the shame and/or guilt of not doing or being enough just won't go away. You may feel like you never have time for yourself anymore. There may be feelings of sadness around a loss of a person, place, relationship or dream. It's possible you keep thinking that some things in your past you just can't let go of. All of this may be creating difficulties in your relationships and you don't know what else to do anymore. You just want something to change.

I specialize in helping people learn skills or process their challenges to help relieve anxiety and other emotions, navigate interpersonal relationships, and process their grief over losses they have endured– whether it be a death, break-up, identity, etc.
Who are you? What do you need from this life? These questions are often difficult to figure out, and we may make decisions or act in certain ways that baffle us or make us question ourselves. Sometimes we have difficulty dealing with challenging situations because we either do not know how or are not sure what we want. These challenges can involve having trouble managing our emotions, handling our interpersonal relationships, dealing with a loss, or other trials that make us question who we are and how to navigate the world around us.

Do you or someone you love have cancer? This isn't the life you planned for. Every priority you had changed in an instant. Perhaps you are feeling a flood of shock, sadness, fear, anger, confusion, anxiety, and depression. It is hard to talk with friends and family members. Many just don't understand what you're going through. You feel you need to be strong all the time - to guard everyone from how you really feel. You don't know what to do. Sadly, friends drift away. Scans, biopsies, labs, and treatments are relentless, and you fear it may come back one day.

I have great respect for individuals willing to engage in the therapy. It is not an easy process, but it does provide an opportunity for real change and healing. I have spent much of my career working with individuals struggling with issues of addiction, depression and anxiety, and other severe and persistent mental illness and personality disorders. Much time has also been spent working with those recovering from a history of trauma or history of physical, verbal, and sexual abuse.

I particularly have experience with caregivers overwhelmed with dementia issues, those experiencing memory problems, stress, codependency, anxiety, family dynamics and spiritual issues.
I believe most change occurs in trusted relationships where one feels valued and heard. By offering support, encouragement, and affirmation, l hope to create a safe and compassionate place where we can explore those family dynamics, life issues and personal choices that make up your life story. By uncovering faulty thinking that results in damaging patterns of relating, you will better understand who you are and who you want to become. We will explore ways to make changes so you are not ruled by addictions. Together, we will come up with strategies so that you may make the necessary changes to experience growth and healing.

I have experience working with adults who are suffering with the questions and symptoms of living, including grief, depression, anxiety, & self-esteem.
As humans, I believe we need a soft place to land. Being in the world brings with it a variety of feelings, thoughts, and sensations, but often we struggle to find space in our lives to process these experiences. I believe the connection and safety offered through individual therapy creates an opportunity to name the parts of us that feel painful or confusing or joyful — to allow us to move toward greater self-acceptance by noticing and being heard.

Life is challenging. It's not always clear where to go or what to do next. If you're struggling with mental health issues on top of it all, life can feel even more overwhelming and painful. I believe there is potential for happiness in all people. Though it may be difficult to see it now, everything you need in order to be happy already lives within you. I'm not here to "fix" you. Instead, I'll help you harness your innate potential.

On the outside people see you as "put together" because you're gritty and tough even when you don't feel it. Yet inside its impossible to narrow down your symptoms to one category because you feel ALL of the things, maybe even all at the same time. Confusion, stress, pain, heartbreak, fear, loneliness, sadness and anger are your normal. Because when you've experienced hard, difficult things in your life, those feelings ARE normal. You're tired of "faking" being ok as life has become overwhelming. When was the last time you felt confident and present, able to be ENOUGH for yourself and others? Maybe its time to feel that again.

Do the simplest things lead to the biggest problems, and sometimes big problems seem "not that big a deal"? Maybe you notice that you struggle with making connections (lasting friendships or romantic relationships etc.), and you feel alone even in a crowd. Do you struggle with mental health, trauma, or generational patterns that continually recycle in your mental, emotional, and physical experiences? Is it possible you or a loved one are struggling with addiction and have a hard time finding peace or relief? What if you are struggling with your spirituality and feel a little pull in a certain direction, and unsure of what to do?

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
