I approach psychotherapy as a creative, collaborative undertaking between therapist and client with the goal of creating a safe, healing relationship through which clients can discover and mobilize their deepest capacities for transformation. I have been in practice for over 25 years, working with clients of all ages, including adults, couples, families, young children & adolescents. Areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, trauma, bereavement, issues surrounding adoption, parenting, and co-parenting after divorce. As a psychotherapist and special educator I have worked extensively with children with learning differences.

We work with depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, eating disorders, bereavement, BPD, autism, ADHD, addiction, sexual abuse, DV, medical illnesses, relationship problems, LGTBQ+, adjustment disorders and forensic cases.
Footprints was started by a therapist who realized that often times the services provided to low socio-economic communities is lacking quality care. We noticed these communities were confronted with long wait times, disrespectful admins, and subpar treatment. The one and only purpose was to exploit the community for profit without providing the level of care deserved. Feel Better Therapy began from the inspiration to provide quality mental health care to the poorest of communities and treating the clients of this community the same way a rich patient would be treated in a clinic treating affluent clients.

In child work, children come to therapy for a variety of reasons—difficulties in school; trouble eating or sleeping; sadness or anger; and anxiety related to separation.
In my practice, I aim to create a comfortable space within which to explore emotional, interpersonal, and behavioral difficulties. I work with children, adolescents and adults in individual, couple, and family psychotherapy. Through a collaborative process, I help patients discover connections between problematic patterns of thinking and relating, and the ongoing challenges they face. These connections – between thoughts and feelings, past and present, internal experience and external situations – can help a person think in new ways, generating possibilities for growth and change.

As a therapist, I take a strengths-based approach to my work with clients, recognizing the unique skills and resources that each individual brings to the therapeutic relationship. I believe in creating a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and validated, and where they can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences with empathy and compassion. At the same time, I also see my role as a therapist as one of gently challenging my clients' thinking and encouraging them to consider new perspectives.

My goal is to support clients on their journey to fulfillment in all areas of their lives. I aim to provide a safe, nurturing environment where clients can gain insight into their emotional lives and behaviors and equip them with tools to form healthy relationships. After a rewarding and diverse career as an economist, I decided to follow my true calling to become a psychotherapist. I now feel great joy in empowering my clients to find inner peace and self-worth.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
