I see adults experiencing anxiety, depression and relationship difficulties. I listen deeply. I help adults become more curious about their thoughts and feelings and question long-held assumptions that no longer apply. I help them tap into their bodies' wisdom. We work on removing roadblocks to free up energy in the essential areas of love, work and play. I help children experiencing difficulty at home, in school, and with peers. Through play and talk, I help them resume the important tasks of childhood. I have a specialty niche in infants and young children. Attachment issues, trauma, divorce and loss are additional areas of expertise.

My areas of expertise include anxiety and depression, issues of late adolescence and young adulthood, relationship issues, loss and bereavement, and sexual and marital problems treated in either individual or couples therapy.
My approach is interactive, empathic, and responsive to each client's needs and difficulties. I see therapy at its best as an authentic encounter between two people, one of whom is a skilled listener who can help the other understand conflicts, alleviate pain, find meaning in his/her unique story, and discover solutions to current problems. I have extensive experience working with individuals and couples, and with late adolescents and young adults.

My primary modalities are EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I've worked with trauma and injustice for many years, and I recognize the courage it takes to trust another person with the most vulnerable parts of yourself. In my office, I strive to provide a therapeutic space where all parts feel welcome, where you can experience something radically different and practice new and courageous ways of relating to yourself and to others. I've successfully helped teenagers, adults and couples experience healing from trauma and unresolved events, peace from anxiety and acceptance in times of grief.

parent/ child/ family therapy) loss, existential/ religious conflicts, transitions (mid life), developmental trauma, anxiety, somatic and spiritual integration (therapists, meditation/ yoga teachers) and Kundalini/ spiritual awakenings.
Soul loss is what we go through when our early wounds and traumas restrict our energy and impede our ability to live freely and joyfully. I can help you retrieve your lost energy and rewire old patterns, so you can more fully embody who you were meant to be. Pain is often an invitation to learn more about our feelings so we can evolve and expand. I use a mind-body approach (somatic experiencing/ gestalt) with a relational lens (psychodynamic/ attachment/ Jungian) and energy healing. If you feel stuck after years of talk therapy, I can help. I see children, adolescents, adults, couples & families online only at the moment.

Children often act out behaviorally to communicate anxiety, depression, or some other need, and we work with both schools and other systems in children's lives to help address both problematic behaviors and underlying causes.
Therapy is about both addressing specific issues which may be getting in our way as well as cultivating a healthy curiosity about ourselves, our patterns, and our experiences. Life is wrought with transitions which can catch us off-guard, and it is common to feel unsure as to whether we are on the right path. Thankfully, these can be successfully navigated collaboratively and discreetly through a relationship with a trusted professional. Gaining an understanding of ourselves through identifying our blind spots is the first step in establishing a life that is both purposeful and fulfilling.

We may choose to work to reduce immediate symptoms such as anxiety, excessive worry, anger, and feelings of stuck-ness.
I believe that people thrive when they are authentically connected to themselves and each other. When these connections are disrupted by fear, trauma, depression, loss, or some life transition, it can be helpful to have a place to rediscover and repair those connections. Having a safe environment where an empathic presence and a constructive perspective are provided can help to restore stability, reinforce your strengths, and allow you to grow and build toward living your fullest life possible. My approach to psychotherapy is collaborative, practical, and goal oriented.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
