I provide individual psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, and parent-child consultations. My solution-focused approach takes the whole person into account, emphasizing psychological barriers, personal history, ambitions and desires. I practice psychoanalysis and psychodynamic therapy with adults, children and adolescents. I provide open, nonjudgmental space where you can express your fears, struggles, concerns, and desires that are otherwise difficult to articulate. I will invite you to share whatever comes to mind as freely and openly as you can. We will explore the dynamics that unfold in sessions, and think about connections between your past and present. Through a practice of active and attentive listening I will work with you to help you identify the unhealthy patterns that make you feel stuck and prevent you from realizing your full potential in life.

My specialities include anxiety disorders, mood disorders, perinatal mental health and infertility.
Client’s usually seek therapy when they feel “stuck”, unable to move beyond the obstacles they are facing. I am passionate about helping people tackle life’s challenges, to help them feel more empowered and in control. Rooted in a cognitive behavioral style of therapy, I aim to help my clients identify and eventually combat harmful beliefs and behaviors that may be holding them back from achieving their goals and living the life they desire. I work with my clients to build a “toolkit” full of skills that they can take with them outside the therapy room.

We work with depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, eating disorders, bereavement, BPD, autism, ADHD, addiction, sexual abuse, DV, medical illnesses, relationship problems, LGTBQ+, adjustment disorders and forensic cases.
Footprints was started by a therapist who realized that often times the services provided to low socio-economic communities is lacking quality care. We noticed these communities were confronted with long wait times, disrespectful admins, and subpar treatment. The one and only purpose was to exploit the community for profit without providing the level of care deserved. Feel Better Therapy began from the inspiration to provide quality mental health care to the poorest of communities and treating the clients of this community the same way a rich patient would be treated in a clinic treating affluent clients.

I have worked since 1983 with anxious and depressed adults and children, and with couples who suffer due to a lack of healthy communication and due to addictive behaviors.
Suffering is an integral part of life, the same way manure is an integral part of the farmer's life. As a wise farmer learns to use manure as a fertilizer, I can assist you in understanding and using your suffering wisely, and learning to profit from it. I am silent when need be, yet I am also very willing to respond to your questions and to dialogue with you in a very direct way when necessary.

I have a warm, down-to-earth style and years of experience with a range of issues including trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, relationship and intimacy difficulties, personality disorders, and emotional disturbance in children and adolescents. Recognizing that insight is sometimes not enough, my approach combines exploration with more active interventions. I have an extensive background in psychodynamic, DBT, family systems, play and couples therapy, and carefully tailor treatments to each patient's needs.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
