We all face challenges as we move through life. These challenges can be magnified when we repeat old ways of coping that we learned at a very young age but no longer serve us as adults. What some people find frustrating is knowing what the problem is but not knowing how to change it. My job is to assist you in more fully understanding these problems and in recognizing outdated habits and transforming them from automatic reactions into behaviors that are governed by conscious choices. This self-awareness can bring about symptomatic relief and a renewed sense of control over one's life.
I specialize in helping clients recover from the consequences of relationships with people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I help these clients to view their own needs as important, to regain trust in their perceptions and to feel like their true selves once again, or, for some, for the first time.
It is my belief that a good client-therapist relationship is crucial. It allows one to explore that which can be too painful or frightening to explore on one's own. Because the right fit is so essential I will work with potential clients to figure out whether I or a different type of therapist/therapy might offer them the best chance for success in therapy.
