My name is Anna Askew, I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in California, working with individual adults and couples statewide via telehealth. My main specialization is in anxiety, stress, and relationship and communication issues, using a holistic approach to therapy. I use different empirically based methodologies in accordance with the particular needs of each client. However, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy are at the forefront of my interventions, as I have found them to be a good basis for building forward progress.
My style of communication is a combination of assertiveness and empathy, compassionate and honest while still being kind. I like to create a mindful space where clients feel they can be open and authentic, and where they can be heard without judgment. A space that fosters a collaborative therapy alliance between client and therapist.
I believe in setting goals for therapy together, between you as the client and me as the therapist. As we gain clarity into what you would like to work on and what you would like from therapy, we can collaborate to create your treatment goals.
