Finding a therapist who respects us is crucial. Having another person who understands us is a basic human need. At times what we do and think do not create a happy life. We may feel isolated, focus on the "negative" and find ourselves feeling wretched. We may turn to substance use or other behaviors to cope with discomfort. You and I will discuss your unique situation, what your behaviors and thoughts may be doing for you, and how they may be hindering your sense of wellbeing. We'll explore how to achieve comfort, acceptance and happiness. I look forward to nurturing your confidence, your strength and your wisdom.
Humans have the capacity for unlimited learning and growth. Because I am mindfulness trained, compassion and awareness are core to my work. I believe friendliness towards oneself is vital to lasting change. I utilize compassion-focused therapy, CBT, emotionally-focused individual therapy (EFIT), and internal family systems (IFS) approaches.
I do this work not because life is easy and I know how to do it, but because I know from experience how difficult life can be and that relief is possible. I look forward to meeting you and hearing your story. If you choose to work with me, I will be observant, patient, dependable, openminded, and direct. There is only one you and you are important.
