I have a specialty in trauma but work with a broad range of individuals including those struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues and existential concerns. I integrate psychodynamic and mindfulness approaches in the work I do with clients. I not only think it is important to understand how the past impacts the present and to make the unconscious, conscious but I believe that it is equally important to help clients learn to pay attention to thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and breath in the present moment so that they can better understand, tolerate, and ultimately move beyond, their distress.
I additionally have a specialty in psychological evaluations. I assess a broad range of both children and adults to: help clarify cognitive and emotional functioning; refine diagnoses; make treatment recommendations. I also provide asylum evaluations and extreme hardship evaluations for refugees and asylum seekers.
My deep grounding in mind-body approaches, and my work developing targeted yoga interventions for people struggling with severe emotional distress (both at the VA and at a residential center for traumatized teens), inform my holistic approach to helping clients work with, and transform, their distress.
