Our professional clinicians each have a different area of specialty in addition to their post graduate training in animal assisted psychotherapy. In addition to using this expertise the different animals can be integrated into the therapeutic process depending on the point in therapy, as well as the specific therapeutic goal being worked on at that specific time making the therapy experience work more quickly while engaging clients.
AAP combines best practices of theoretically-based psychotherapy with best practices of animal assisted therapy at a non-traditional, farm environment. This union provides clients an opportunity for rich therapeutic interaction with the clinician and with a variety of animals, that addresses the client's therapeutic goals at each stage of therapy.
While we provide traditional counseling and psychotherapy, we integrate animals into the therapeutic process whenever it is appropriate. This can make counseling more interactive, interesting and motivating for clients of all ages. Sessions take place in our offices, playroom, or out in the arena, gazebo, or even walking the quiet neighborhood.
