I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who specializes in anxiety and depressive disorders in adolescents and adults. I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from UVA in 2012. I work from an evidence-based perspective to treat problems such as anxiety (e.g., general anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder, OCD, phobias), depression, trauma, substance use, and stress from life, career, or relationship problems/transitions. I integrate evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (including Mindfulness-Based strategies), and Emotion Regulation skills.
Treatment is tailored to the specific needs of each client. I believe that is important for the therapist and client to maintain a collaborative working relationship. Together, we will determine which approaches and strategies are helpful for accomplishing set goals, regularly reviewing progress and revising treatment plans as needed.
I accept fee-for-service payments and work with clients to apply for out-of-network insurance reimbursement. I work full-time in the Psychology Department at JMU and am available to work with clients on Friday mornings. I respond most quickly to email (preferred) as opposed to phone inquires but am happy to follow up by phone for initial consultation.
