Greetings! I am a Jamaican born licensed professional counselor who conducts sessions in English and Jamaican Patois (Patwah). I am trained in marriage, couples, and family therapy as well as trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). Through forming a collaborative partnership, I provide support to high school seniors, college students, and adults in the areas of anxiety, grief, life transitions, postpartum anxiety, betrayal trauma, teen trauma, and being the adult child of immigrants. I also provide support to couples in the areas of communication, premarital, pre-engagement and pre-cohabitation.
My approach is direct, warm, and empowering. My therapeutic approach mainly utilizes techniques from Structural Therapy, CBT, and Narrative Therapy; other approaches are incorporated as needed. My work always involves a review of ecosystemic influences (e.g. family, culture) as everyone's unique experience can affect their starting points/needs presentation.
The unknown aspects of starting therapy for the first time or with a new therapist can be scary. My goal is to work with you to eliminate/minimize these aspects by providing a safe, non-judgmental environment where you feel comfortable and supported on your therapeutic journey.
