I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has provided therapeutic services over the past 10 years in the following settings; A Community Treatment Team; Family Outpatient Services; Art Therapy at a Fine Arts Institution; and an Inpatient Drug and Alcohol Residential Treatment Facility. I have provided therapy to children, adolescents, adults and their families, helping them with anxiety and depression disorders, substance abuse, trauma, complicated grief, and anger management.

With over twenty-five years of experience, I believe that the issues we face can be dealt with by choosing how we view them. I use a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy and rational living therapy to help clients determine what they see as issues and how they want to manage them. I focus on helping clients minimize or eliminate problem behaviors and thoughts and increase positive coping skills, thinking skills and day to day management skills. I am a straight forward, conversational therapist with a dry sense of humor. My motivation is your improvement and your release from the areas where you are stuck.

In the current world of ongoing and chronic stress, life issues can interfere with anyone's ability to live their life to the fullest. Sometimes these issues are life crises like the death of a loved one, new life phases like parenting and adjusting to a new born, or downsizing when the last child leaves home. Rick specializes in work with early-life abuse and neglect. Over 30 years of work with domestic violence/abuse include training of police response to domestic violence, as well as therapy for victims. Rick also counsels couples with problems with communication, chemical and behavioral addictions, anger, infidelity, intimacy, and “lifestyle” conflicts.
