I hold a Masters in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have been working in the mental health and social service field for over 18 years. I am excited to be helping people overcome their individual barriers to emotional health and personal success.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has provided therapeutic services over the past 10 years in the following settings; A Community Treatment Team; Family Outpatient Services; Art Therapy at a Fine Arts Institution; and an Inpatient Drug and Alcohol Residential Treatment Facility. I have provided therapy to children, adolescents, adults and their families, helping them with anxiety and depression disorders, substance abuse, trauma, complicated grief, and anger management.

In the current world of ongoing and chronic stress, life issues can interfere with anyone's ability to live their life to the fullest. Sometimes these issues are life crises like the death of a loved one, new life phases like parenting and adjusting to a new born, or downsizing when the last child leaves home. Sometimes these issues are related to efforts to manage what feels like overwhelming stress with things like the over use of alcohol, drugs, video games, gambling, eating, anger or other less productive behaviors. Depression, anxiety, sleep issues and worry can all result from the experience of daily life. Counseling can help.

I use a person-centered approach to therapy and focus on the mind body connection. I also have an interest in how nutrition and daily movement affects mental health. I can implement art and creative strategies in my therapy as well for an eclectic approach to therapy sessions. I have extensive skills in the utilization of DBT and have many years of experience running DBT groups for both adolescents and adults. I have experience working with trauma and complex trauma, and I also utilize Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).

Susan Sheidy, LMFT, is the Grace Counseling Services Clinical Director and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Christian Counseling from Liberty University and also received her Master of Arts graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty.
