I’m also ABPP board-certified in Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) Therapy and offer treatments for anger management, anxiety, depression, and stress.
I deeply respect the strength and courage it takes to reach out to someone you’ve never met before and ask for help. To honor this, I begin by listening to understand not only the things you’re struggling with, but also your strengths, goals, the things you value most. You’re the expert of your own life, and I strongly believe treatment should be a collaboration in which we work together as a team to achieve your goals. With this as the starting point, together we’ll develop a treatment plan personalized to you, as well as a tracker specific to your goals to make sure we’re always laser-focused on the changes you want to make.

I have helped those with issues related to: anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, interpersonal conflict, anger, loss, and trauma.
At times we may struggle with intense and confusing emotions that interfere with reaching our daily goals and aspirations. By working collaboratively within in a calm, supportive and non-judgmental atmosphere, we can begin to become more curious about desired changes. Therapy can serve as a guide to help you gain a better understanding of yourself, how you relate and navigate the interpersonal relationships in your life, and within your environment. I also believe it is imperative to view therapy through the lens of trauma-informed care, while respecting each individual's background, where trauma's may have left unspoken words.

In my practice, therapy starts with recognizing what you bring to the table. The courage and resilience that got you to this page are the tip of the iceberg of the strengths that we can leverage to help manage the challenges you are facing. My approach to therapy centers the ways we cope across different contexts of our lives. Behavioral patterns that are strengths in one area of our lives may be holding us back in others. What works in the short term can perpetuate suffering in the long term. I want to support you to cope with life's challenges by leveraging all of your strengths in a flexible way that works in any context.

I enjoy working with children, adolescents, families, and adults (preschool-age 80+). I am fortunate to have helped individuals over the past 20+ years as they strive to overcome life's challenges and access life's joys. While a variety of therapy techniques that I am trained in can be of value, clients and I select the ones that they find to be most helpful to them personally. I primarily see clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, divorce, school/work and family problems, ADHD, Autism, childhood issues, and processing past traumatic or stressful life events.

Between what society and those around you say, you constantly feel like you are not enough. You are feeling lost in the world and so badly want to feel grounded for once, but have no idea where to start or where it's even safe to begin navigating that. What you are experiencing is so multi-layered that it leaves you feeling stuck. My passion is helping other people to truly find themselves by unraveling layers of trauma, societal expectations, and negativity imposed by others. I want to help you figure out how to be truly, wholly yourself and live a life that encompasses your values and beliefs.

I think that therapy doesn’t have to be complicated. As a client you can expect to highlight your strengths, speak to your individual experience in a non-judgmental environment, receive unconditional support from someone you trust, and learn new ways to lessen your pain. Therapy is a wonderfully transformative venture, where two people collaborate on how to navigate the human experience. My approach is strengths-based, person-first, and multifaceted to meet your specific needs.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
