Life changes are difficult. We all go through things in life that are overwhelming. Some people seeking help are struggling with the loss of a loved one. At the same time, others are dealing with changes in family dynamics and family stressors. My goal is to help address these emotions and experiences. My ideal client knows what they want and is ready and determined to get it. The client works hard and wants to better their self mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. The client wants to make a change, and is tired of doing life dealing with the same struggles. They want better for their family and self by willingly doing the work to become whole and healthy. I love working collaboratively with individuals to help find solutions that will increase their life fulfillment. We have little control over life's challenges, however we do have control over how we chose to deal with them. I have over sixteen years of social service experience with adults, adolescents, and children in the fields of education, child welfare, delinquent youth, and mental health services. I have two master’s degrees in both Social Work and Criminal Justice with a concentration in Forensic Psychology. I very much enjoy working with children, teens, adults, couples and families. I specialize in working with individuals/families challenged in their relationships and choices due to a difficulty in identifying and sharing their thoughts and emotions appropriately. I enjoy assisting clients in addressing issues and/or emotions that have caused problems in one's relationships in the home, community, and/or the workplace. Those impacted by substance abuse, both individually or as a family member are also welcomed. There is a curious habit that I've noticed, especially when working with teens, that clients will mostly only work on the "issue of the week." This can have numerous benefits and can also delay the client's progress on any underlying concerns or patterns. Ideally, once a client has agreed to their treatment goals, they continue to take attainable steps towards that goal in therapy and in their daily life. When a client feels comfortable with their therapist to share their thoughts, emotions, and vulnerabilities, then deeper work can happen.
