Private executive therapy gets you un-stuck – from burnout, depression, stress/anxiety, anger issues, relationship problems, negative habits, perfectionism, trauma, imposter syndrome and more.
As an executive, you know life at the top can be deeply rewarding. And profoundly challenging. Business – especially at the top – is stressful. There’s never enough time. The choice seems to be 1) succeed at work or 2) succeed at home. Pick one. It feels lonely at work, but just as lonely at home. You’re distracted or even consumed with worry. Angry outbursts can happen. Loved ones may say you’re distant and not “present”. With concerns about cash flow, sales, employees, customers, competitors, the economy, partners and investors, worry is an under-statement. Sometimes, you wonder how long you can keep doing this.

Life happens to us and sometimes it's not pleasant. Issues from our past as well as current stress has a way of affecting our moods, behaviors, and relationships. When our own attempts to cope and resolve these issues are ineffective, it may be time to seek professional therapy. I have helped many individuals overcome and manage a variety of distressing thoughts, emotions and behaviors. Common complaints include depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, abuse/trauma, panic, relationship issues, anger, stress, interpersonal conflict, moodiness, grief/loss, and major life stressors.

My interest in spirituality, forgiveness, and mindfulness grows out of my research into personality variables promoting or hindering forgiveness success, which, over the course of my career, led me to develop mindfulness-based, attachment informed, and schema-focused treatment approaches for forgiveness, anger management, parenting, couple counseling, and clinical disorders such as anxiety and depression.
I am deeply interested in the interface between psychology and spirituality with a special focus on forgiveness, coping and mindfulness, brain-based and attachment-focused parenting, and schema focused therapy, which well equips me to assist clients facing life transition issues or relationship issues with a spiritual/depth dimension. I view psychotherapy as a venue where I can help my clients to change their beliefs, polish their perceptual lenses, adjust their relational patterns, let go of unnecessary suffering, and develop a deeper capacity for joy by learning to live more mindfully and gratefully.

Whether you have a specific life goal or hurdle you are working on or if you are struggling with things like depression, anxiety, trauma, anger, addiction, relationship issues, or career-related struggles, my first goal is to provide you a safe, non-judgmental place to be listened to and understood.

I have worked with many who have a spiritual background, those in the LGBT community, those with anger and anxiety issues, and those who have problems with a relationship, either family or otherwise.
My ideal client is someone who has a desire to work through things and is open to hearing other points of view. Someone who will challenge themselves and create opportunities for discussion. My ideal client would be someone who has a belief system, whatever that is, and can grow from that. I feel as though a client that would work best with me would have an open mind, understanding that I am there for them, and know that I truly want the best and ideal outcome for them.

If you're like me, life can feel overwhelming at times. It's easy for us to get stuck in depression, anxiety, stress, anger, etc. Our emotions and thoughts can take us over if we don't know how to better manage them. Do you find yourself ruminating on the past? Worrying about the future? Getting pissed off about way too many things? It's easy to lose our way in life. If any of this feels familiar, you're not alone. Life is hard, but we can all learn different ways to better manage our own life. You can take control of your life.

I want to create a safe and supportive atmosphere where people can discuss their lives freely without fear of judgement. While the specific goals of therapy are always decided by the client, my overarching goals with each person is that they will come to understand their worth as an individual, and will find freedom to fully engage with life. I believe in not only addressing issues that hold people back, but also in exploring their unique strengths and interests.

I work with individuals, couples, families, adolescents, children, and LGBTQs. I like to delve into the depression, anxiety, or whatever is troubling you to get at and transform, moving towards a productive satisfying life. I'm good at getting at the potential, power, genius, and strength which lies within, surfacing creativity, health, and well being. Usually, when one discovers their potential it is like dropping a pebble in the calm lake, rippling goodness for all around them.

Does something need to change in your life, or are you making promises that seem harder and harder to keep? Feel like a cartoon character walking around with a storm cloud following you? Perhaps something happened to you that you didn't deserve, or you experienced something painful that feels fresh? Mental Health can be a mysterious stranger who lingers in your life unexamined or unquestioned, and it can impact every aspect of self and the different contexts you exist within (work-setting, family/kids, and other significant relationships). Most importantly it can distort what you see in the mirror everyday.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
