My ideal client suffers from anxiety and depression. These struggles create the inability to function as expected daily. This client needs mood stabilization and the ability to function easier by completing daily routines and tasks with fewer challenges. The client also wants mood stabilization to avoid suicidal ideation, plan, or intent. As we work together on improving mental health, the client's mood will stabilize with less interactive anxiety and depressive feelings of suicidal ideation within the next three months.

It is not easy to start therapy treatment. An ideal client is a person that, even through all the fears, doubts and questions, takes the first step to start treatment and gives a chance to explore a new technique to find better balance in their life. There could be setbacks in the process but the most important thing is to stay constant. The client is willing to work in their goals and implement skills learned in every session. Also, to ask questions needed, even if they feel afraid, in order to be able to communicate with their therapist in a honest way.

New England stoicism expects us to “be strong” and “self- sufficient” pushing that pain deep inside. At one point or another, we are all the victims of problematic thinking and struggle to maintain balance in life. You don’t need a pervasive mental illness or diagnosis to benefit from counseling. If you’re tired of being stuck, let’s change that.

Sometimes in life we question where we are going or cannot seem to find a path to get to where we want to be ~ to be happy with ourselves and at peace. The world today may be creating more stressors in our life than what we are use to causing a feeling of imbalance, depression or anxiety. My goal is to create a safe, respectful and caring atmosphere where one may explore and begin to understand one's thoughts, behaviors and feelings. Together with my clients, we explore their dreams, challenges and fears. Along this journey there can be self-discovery, problem solving and self love.

Are you tired of feeling like the weight of depression and anxiety is holding you back from living your life to the fullest? Do you find yourself grappling with the unique challenges that come with being a part of the LGBTQ community in a world that sometimes feels less than accepting? These questions can be overwhelming, but you don't have to face them alone. I approach therapy from an integrative perspective, rooted in a social justice framework. This means that our work together isn't just about alleviating symptoms.

Due to my experience working in under-serviced mental health communities, my ideal clients would be those who are hindered from moving forward in life due to traumatic experiences or who have been unable to manage day-to-day functioning due to the many curve balls that life throws their way. I would like to assist those who would like to return to their own version of normal functioning to improve their quality of life.

I strongly believe that everyone has the potential to heal from wounds that exist due to life challenges and traumas. I have made it the mission in my career to be a facilitator in the process of healing from within through the life-changing gift of therapy. I am here to guide you through more effective ways of thinking and behaving, and to be more present in the moment. I will introduce techniques for relaxation that allow anxieties to melt away. I will listen and be nonjudgmental and accepting in the process of hearing your voice. I will hear and see the person you authentically and naturally are.

My ideal client would be new to therapy, though motivated to change. I am aware of the challenges that come with seeking therapy and want to be a support to those who are hesitant with the process. Ideally, I would like a client who is self-aware, receptive to feedback, and willing to hold themselves accountable.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
