Issues often addressed with clients include assertive communication, anxiety, depression, anger management, stress, self-esteem, parenting, couples/family conflict and child behavioral problems.
Eliminate conflict, anxiety and depression more quickly when you engage your subconscious mind in the process of positive and rapid change. Activate new ways of thinking and coping to get more of what you want in life! Learn how previous experiences have influenced your choices until now, and begin to make the changes you want immediately. My approach is caring and supportive. As you clarify your goals and move towards attaining them, you will become more aware of your own strengths and options moving forward.

I have experience in: personality disorders, anger management, anxiety, depression, adjustment-related issues, grief, health, social skills, and stress management.
When individuals experience trauma or any life stressor, it is not uncommon to feel like our lives are unraveling. It can become challenging to figure out what is right and wrong in our lives. My goal is to be the person that “sits in your passenger seat and helps you to explore which road you’d like to go on.” If you are looking for an engaging Sarasota counselor who is ready to help discover and address issues, contact me today.

"Stop worrying." they say. "Just cheer up!" they say. If you could, you would but just don't know how. For many, feelings of anxiety, sadness, and grief can be difficult to manage, and at times these feelings can be debilitating. Difficulty managing symptoms can often result in missed days at school or work, avoiding others, low self-esteem, and managing life. Many individuals feel they are alone and no one understands how they feel. Other may feel scared or worried something is wrong with them. Trust me, you are not alone in the way you feel.

While being a strong human who can manage everything like a boss is certainly admirable, neglecting one's mental and emotional well-being can ultimately have its fair share of negative impacts. It's important to recognize that being strong doesn't mean being invincible, and everyone needs to take care of themselves in order to function at their best. Ignoring mental and emotional needs can lead to feelings of burnout, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. It can also lead to strained relationships with loved ones, as well as decreased productivity and overall quality of life.

Most people who reach out to me are looking for help with anxiety, depression, relationship satisfaction, emotional expression, grief/loss, trauma, or their children’s anger/attention problems at home or in school.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my professional services. Finding the right therapist is as much about experience as it is about fit. That is why I tell everyone I meet that our first session is not only a chance for me to get to know you, but also for you to get to know me. Having worked with individuals, couples, and families for over ten years, I have learned that life is hard enough as it is. You don't have to continue going it alone. We all could use a little extra help every once in a while, so why not reach out and see what we can accomplish together.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
