It is important that we are all able to have the opportunity to enhance our quality of life by exploration of self and challenging negative thought patterns that lead us in directions that decrease our sense of self. I enjoy working with older adolescence and adults to help them cope with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, life transitions, addiction, grief and loss, and ADHD.

I am passionate about working with individuals working on developing a health self/body image, family issues, blending families, life transitions, fertility struggles, among many others. Goals of our time together may include integration (matching your outsides to your insides, so to speak), embodiment (feeling at home in your body), freedom, living truthfully, growth, self awareness, and peace. These goals may feel lofty, but each is possible for YOU, wherever you are now.

I have learned from 13 years of working with diverse clients that what we seek is often inside of us in one form or another, but hidden deep. We struggle because we learned strategies that helped us cope with times when we didn’t get what we needed or when we were harmed, and those strategies became our default. In our sessions, we will use methods like Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and person-centered therapies to help you let go of what no longer serves you and develop new ways of being.

Do you ever feel like you're running on empty and at a loss for what to do next? You might know you want life to look different, but you're not sure how to get there. Maybe it's your teen who's struggling with depression, anger, or behaviors; your kiddo who can't help but throw fits at the drop of a hat, or can't seem to calm down; or maybe it's you who's struggling with past trauma, overwhelming anxiety, or uncertainty with your relationships. No matter the struggle, you don't have to deal with it alone. I love what I do and I'm here to help. We are currently offering in-person and teletherapy sessions.

Many of us feel overwhelmed by the world that we live in. Oftentimes it helps to have someone to listen about the concerns we have or the things that make us feel despair. Therapy can be a great way to get some of these feelings out of our heads and into the world where they often appear more manageable and less overwhelming. I believe therapy should be collaborative and that I, as the therapist, should sit with you in whatever state you are in and that we should both work together to address your needs.

You’re feeling disillusioned or trapped and it’s showing up in a loss of motivation, increased anxiety, or outbursts of anger. You've been hurt by a partner, a family member, or maybe even your faith community, and the wound won't heal. You're trying to press on, but the usual ways of coping are no longer serving you well. You're starting to see that your patterns may even be harming you or pushing people away, which only contributes to a feeling of isolation. Sometimes you're overwhelmed with shame or regret. At least part of you wants to get better and experience happiness again, even if another part of you wants to give up.

My job is to accompany you on your journey to wellness; bearing witness, offering feedback and facilitating the overall process so that you get where you want to go. I work from a number of different modalities and offer a flexible, creative and negotiable attitude toward the work that we will do. I want to know what works for you, and what doesn’t. My hope for our work is to build a trusting relationship in which the trials of life can be navigated with grace, inner wounds can be healed, and your soul can be nurtured.

Change can be difficult for children and adolescents. Adjusting to new circumstances, routines, and relationships can bring about intense emotions and challenging behaviors. These stressors often lead to a pattern of negative interactions and power struggles which can leave parents feeling frustrated, powerless, and even embarrassed. This is not the life that any parent envisioned for their child or teen, yet it can feel impossible to make any real change. With help, though, families can break this cycle. Parents and children can repair past rifts and develop new, positive opportunities for connection.

I have been passionate about psychology and helping others for as long as I can remember. One of my early passions became to destigmatize mental health care. Mental health is just as important as physical health. I work with a variety of individuals working to live happier and healthier lives by overcoming many different issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship conflicts, and more. Through my own personal experience, I know beginning the therapy journey can feel a bit daunting, however I am here to help create a safe and collaborative space where you are comfortable.

Do you have a teen with whom you are constantly at odds? Do you feel like every conversation ends up in a fight? Perhaps you see troubling behaviors and patterns emerging (e.g. substance use, pornography, concerning friend choices etc.) and you have no idea how to help. These types of problems demonstrate that nothing can shake a parent's confidence quite like the teenage years. Conversations that once came with ease are now laden with problems and may make you feel you failed as a parent. If you are wondering if there is any hope at all, I'm here to tell you that there is.

In this life, it is impossible to come out unscathed. As we journey forward we continue to accrue new scars, bruises, and scrapes. It often seems the world asks that we simply put a band-aid on our deep wounds and keep moving; when so often our injuries and brokenness need more attention and care. As a therapist I take a very relational approach to counseling. I enjoy working with motivated and insightful, teens and adults who are looking for help with trauma recovery, anxiety & depression, grief & loss, ADHD, and life transitions.

I enjoy accompanying people dealing with anxiety and depression who are invested in improving their mental well-being. Together, in a welcoming, nonjudgemental, and empathetic relationship, we explore different ways of thinking to help alleviate symptoms. Many of the expressed goals are addressed by identifying cognitive distortions, setting boundaries in relationships, and developing coping strategies to decrease negative symptoms.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Littleton?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
