I specialize in adults and adolescents struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, abuse, self-esteem, relationship, and anger issues.
I believe clients play an expert role in their life. My job is to listen and make observations that will help you gain perspective for a positive change in your life. I value the combined effort between client and counselor. Together we will explore how you see the world and construct a treatment plan based on your specific goals. My approaches to counseling include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered and solution focused therapy. Counseling can be intimidating. I am here to be nonjudgmental, compassionate, and empathize

Let’s talk about what matters to you. Change happens and we ask ourselves “ Who am I Now?” “What is Meaningful to Me?” “What causes me pain and sadness?” “What makes me Laugh?” “Is loneliness a recurring theme?” “Why am I so angry?” Difficulties connecting with people and lack of assertiveness can cause resentment, anger, loneliness, and loss of meaning. We grow in our relationships with ourselves and each other. Healthy relationships make us feel alive. The ability to positively assert ourselves creates increased self esteem and authentic relationships.

I have experience working with couples, families and individuals of all ages in areas of self-esteem, codependent relationships, boundaries, communication, anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, grief and loss.
Having a safe place to process thoughts and feelings is important. Whether you have experienced trauma, have been feeling depressed or anxious, are struggling with a relationship, making life transitions, or are seeking to gain self-awareness, I would be honored to work with you to create that space of healing and growth. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with my MA from Denver Seminary. I believe that empathy and compassion are essential in the therapeutic relationship and have found that progress is best achieved when integrating both the heart and the mind.

Some of my prior work includes helping young people with their emotional and behavioral needs, teaching them anger management techniques, and helping them to live fulfilling, independent lives.
We haven’t met yet, but I already know you are brave. Taking the first step towards caring for your mental and emotional health is no easy task. My goal is to walk alongside you on your healing journey and help you find your own power. I am committed to creating a safe, judgment-free space for all. I understand that therapy is not a one size fits all practice. I promise to meet you where you are and provide individually tailored care for your needs.

Common concerns I help with are stress, anxiety, depression, anger, grief, relationship problems, and issues about identity and purpose in life.
You want to not just feel better, but to GET better...and in a way that makes sense, addresses what is important to you, and is effective and empowering. Good therapy is not a temporary Band-Aid, but will help you develop knowledge and skills that last a lifetime. Real change involves a better sense of self-worth, understanding yourself and others, more tools in managing and expressing emotions, and more effective communication skills in relationships. We will clarify your main concerns and goals, identify the barriers to change, and then use your strengths and new tools to find solutions that fit your personality and lifestyle.

Are you struggling with anxiety, depression/grief, or frustration/anger? I am optimistic we can work together to reduce these symptoms, so that you can move forward with renewed confidence and hope. Changes of life issues: death of a loved-one; marriage/divorce; loss of good health; financial concerns; or problems with relationships, often precipitate these symptoms in many people. Yet, these painful situations also present wonderful opportunities for reflection, personal growth, and resolution.

I take a gentle, collaborative approach in guiding adults, young adults, and teens through identity exploration, self-acceptance, life transitions, anxiety, depression, anger, and past trauma.
The process of self-discovery can be both incredibly difficult and immensely satisfying. Sometimes we seek it out, yet at other times it finds us through painful and uncomfortable experiences. At the core of my work is a deep respect for your lived experiences and perspectives, while keeping a curious mind to better understand your inner systems.

Do you feel frustrated in your relationships? Is anxiety preventing you from feeling like your most confident self? Are you relying on substances or addictive behaviors to cope? Relationships are challenging, anxiety is draining and using substances may feel like the only way out. The folks I work with are looking for a therapist to accept their situation, create a space of emotional safety and provide tools for healing, growth, and strength.

My name is Agnieszka Baklazec and I along with three other therapists in my practice along with two prescribers are here for you. We believe that some of life events are traumatic enough and difficult enough that we lose sight of who we truly are as people. We believe therapy can help us get to that beautiful state when, even the imperfections, make up for a beautiful human being each of us is. We also believe that therapy should be affordable and accessible, therefore, we have the ability to offer sliding scale. This option is usually ideal for someone who does not have insurance or chooses not to utilize it.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
